L (0-3) 29/02/2020 - W4 vs Evergreens 1 (A / L) AN UNFORTUNATE LOSS |
---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 29/02/2020 VS EVERGREENS 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 29/02/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 29/02/2020 HEADLINE: An unfortunate loss LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Greshams School RESULT: 3-0 loss REPORT: This Saturday the squad faced a tough opposition playing evergreens in the cold with another day of strong wind. The first half saw City dominating in play. We pushed on through the poor conditions to create multiple good opportunities. Although we were not able to convert in attack, the whole team made a very strong defensive effort. We prevented a goal from the opposition up until the last minute when a short corner turned into a very strong penalty flick from the Evergreens captain. Boosted by a late goal in the first half, Evergreens turned the tables to create some opportunities of their own, coming out 3-0 winners by full time. This was a disappointing result for City as the score did not reflect the rest of the match, which could have gone either way. A very well deserved POTM to Sabina for consistent and strong defending

WOMENS 4TH XI - 08/02/2020 VS PELICANS 2 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 08/02/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 08/02/2020 HEADLINE: A well deserved win for City! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: home RESULT: 3-1 to city 4s REPORT: City 4s were hungry for a win today when playing bottom of the league Pelicans. After a warm up in the sunshine city had first pushback and shortly after scored their first goal from birthday girl Caroline on the post! Pelicans were determined to get a goal back but city scored another great goal from Carolyn, to bring the score to 2-0 before half time. After half time, pelicans were quick to resume play and a straight strike was scored at the top of the D. City made every effort to close down players and continue with their tight marking to prevent any further goals being scored. A further goal was scored by Caroline on the post. Hopefully another win for City 4s should bring them out of the danger zone. Here’s to more points! POTM to Emily Williams

D (2-2) 01/02/2020 - W4 vs Diss 1 (A / L) CITY BEGIN TO FIGHT BACK |
---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 01/02/2020 VS DISS 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 01/02/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 01/02/2020 HEADLINE: City begin to fight back LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: away RESULT: 2-2 REPORT: An extraordinary game for NCHC Women’s 4s with an early goal from Georgie playing right wing putting us ahead only for her then to receive a head injury from a lifted ball by a Diss defender in the ‘D’. Diss equalised through a well executed short corner in the first half. NCHC also managed to secure several short corners, but were unable to convert them. In the 2nd half, Diss made an opportunity through the middle of the pitch to score a second goal through successful one-two play. City suffered a disallowed goal from a ball being deflected off the keeper’s pads for the shot on goal; which was allowed by one umpire and then disallowed by the other leading to confusion (over whether the ball hit a foot) and frustration. NCHC carried on and through a keeper deflection being fed back in by Caroline Illing to Carolyn Lumley scoring from Top ‘D’ to equalise. The game management seemed to bring out a large amount of confusion and frustration, Unfortunately resulting in cardings due to a lack of clarity over player actions and umpire decisions. NCHC walked away with a draw; but the hockey Gods did not favour us today! A very well deserved POTM to Carolyn for great determination in the D and a great straight strike .

L (1-2) 25/01/2020 - W4 vs Loddon 1 (H / L) 2-1 TO LODDON |
---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 25/01/2020 VS LODDON 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 25/01/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 25/01/2020 HEADLINE: 2-1 to Loddon LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Home RESULT:2-1 to Loddon REPORT: A strong performance for the 4s despite the 2-1 loss. The defence did a cracking job keeping them out of the D. And thanks to excellent defending from Karen and Sim, Loddon’s attack had limited chances from open play. After a tight start with some good close passing and attacks from city, Loddon won a penalty corner which was well-executed. The 1-0 nil lead gave Loddon confidence and they were able to score a second. City went into half-time knowing we had more to give. A positive and constructive team talk meant City went out determined in the second half. Good positioning, confidence on the ball and 1-2s from defence and midfield meant City kept more possession and chances started to come. The forwards and inners worked relentlessly to create space and City’s constant pressure and accurate passing resulted in a well-deserved goal from Caroline. City dominated the 2nd half and created a number of opportunities. So a loss but a great game and lots of positives to take into next weeks game. Very well deserved player of the match to Alex woods for great running, commitment and creating lots of opportunities in the D.

---|
WOMENS 4TH XI - 18/01/2020 VS EAST COAST 2 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 18/01/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 18/01/2020 HEADLINE: A disappointing result for 4s LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Away RESULT: 4-0 to East Coast 2s REPORT: The 4s travelled to East Coast this week in a bid to secure some points. The sun was shining and City started promisingly, pinning East Coast into their own end of the pitch for much of the first half of the game. Unfortunately, City were unable to capitalise on this pressure and East Coast managed to break through City lines to score twice. The second half saw a succession of penalty corners awarded to East Coast each of which were defiantly defended by City. However, tired legs started to show towards the tail end of the match and East Coast were able to strike twice more . The final score, 4-0, does not accurately reflect City's performance. Keep going womens we will get those much needed points!!

Despite encouragement from Captain Emily and chief strategist Sue 😀, we fought valiantly as Harleston scored twice in play and from a short corner before halftime. Superstar goalie Anna worked tirelessly and Defence made a valiant effort against the constant subbing for fresh legged attack from Magpies. Great runs up to the D from Kristina in midfield for W4s, sadly, unable to convert goals. 3 further goals came from Magpies in 2nd half. Alex deserved POM for working hard in midfield. W4s look forward to a comeback next week.

City started strongly, passing the ball quickly which culminated in many chances in front of goal. Despite a premature goal celebration indicating otherwise, city were unable to put their chances away. Reepham were 2-0 up when the half time whistle blew. A strong team talk from captain Emily Williams saw a more motivated team return to the pitch for the second half. Reepham put the pressure on City's defence for the first 15mins of the first half and scored from a short corner. Despite some valient defending, Reepham were awarded a penalty flick which was swiftly converted leaving City 4-0 down with about 15 minutes to go. However, City were not going to go down without a fight and two perfectly weighted throughballs from Sue Tomlinson and Emily Williams were pounced on and slotted home before the final whistle blew by Lauren Lawrie, 4-2. Player of the match to Lauren Lawrie for great goals, speed and positioning

WOMENS 4TH XI - 07/12/2019 VS NORWICH CITY 3 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 07/12/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 07/12/2019 HEADLINE: City vs City LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: home RESULT: city 4s - 0 city 3s - 0 REPORT: On a relatively mild Saturday morning in Taverham Norwich City 4s faced the City 3s team in a league interclub game. Right from the start the 3s pushed on and had multiple chances on goal but the 4s defended well and weathered the storm with great performances from the off by the back line of Jess and Kristina. The 4s worked hard down the right hand side pushing the attack back and in the first half managed to create a few chances. Going in at half time at 0-0 spurred the City 4s on, knowing we could potentially nick a goal. In the second half the 3s ramped up the pressure but the 4s absorbed everything thrown at them and with pure grit and determination even managed a number of great breaks and shots at target. Stand out performances from Charlotte and Anna Linsmith in goal made this match a memorable and well deserved point!

We then had a few chances and were unlucky to not draw level from a fine piece of open play. By the end of the first half we were 2-0 down as UEA scored a late goal. We began the second half strong putting the opposition under lots of pressure causing them to make more mistakes. The ball spent more time in their half of the pitch which resulted in us scoring. We defended well stopping UEA from scoring any more goals. Everyone played well and kept on going baring in mind we had no substitutes. Player of the match - Kristina Black

We knew however, that we needed to play well to get a result from this game against a strong mid-table Evergreens team. City started well building strongly from defence and making good use of our wide players. Teamwork was good with great attacking play, resulting in a great run and cross from Lucy Mcnarry creating a chance for Mille Hay, which she put away. City 1-0 up. Evergreens responded well and put the pressure on, but city defended well so it remained 1-0 to us at half time. In the second half city played well, created several chances and had some short corners, but unable to convert. It was Evergreens that scored a goal following good pressure in the city box. The last 10 minutes or so were rather frantic, with both teams having chances, but the final result ended 1-1. Well done girls. A great team performance and another point.
