Mini Training Details
Mini Hockey Training takes place on Sunday Mornings between September and April at our home ground at Taverham Recreational Facilities, which is located on Beech Road, Taverham, NR8 6HP next to Taverham High School.
Our aim is to provide great hockey coaching, with a strong emphasis on enjoyment. As well as the regular training sessions, we also enter inter-club tournaments, organise friendly fixtures and host competitions.

In addition to the coaches above, we also have a specialist goalkeeping coach to train the goalies in each section.
Our qualified coaches are assisted by parent helpers and Young Leaders. The latter are Junior Members who have moved out of Minis and who are encouraged to help with coaching in order to develop their own leadership skills, gain umpiring and coaching experience and act as positive role models to the Mini members.
Whilst training is going on, our modern clubhouse and kitchen are open, so you can enjoy a bacon sandwich and hot drink whilst you wait!
As we have two excellent pitches and many qualified coaches, we are pleased not to need a waiting list. If you want to try hockey out, then contact us and you can start straight away, or just turn up and register on a Sunday.
Equipment Needed:
Young Players will need to bring the following kit to training:
-
Shin pads and mouthguard (Please note that young players will not be allowed to do any contact drills or games without these items, for their own protection)
-
Sports kit with trainers or Astros
-
A drink
-
Warm clothing during the winter
-
A hockey stick if you have one – if not, we have a supply of sticks we can lend out for each session.
