LADIES 1ST XI - 25/02/2017 VS WAPPING 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 25/02/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 25/02/2017 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre RESULT: 0-2 L REPORT: With only a handful of matches before the end of the season Norwich bundled into a mini bus and headed to London to play Wapping Womens 1s. Despite some early possession from Norwich, Wapping were quick to score from a strike that deflected off the right hand post player bounced off a Norwich City player and ended up at the back of the goal. Norwich continued to defend however failed to convert the few chances they had, meaning Wapping went into the second half ahead. The second half was again very defensive and with limited play and chances to score, Norwich struggled to get back into the game. Wapping, who built some great attacking play were quick to score a second goal. Norwich didn’t give up, and fought strong until the end gaining more possession in the last ten minutes of the game however this was little too late and the final whistle went with no goals scored by the Norwich side.

LADIES 1ST XI - 11/02/2017 VS OLD LOUGHTONIANS (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 11/02/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 11/02/2017 HEADLINE: A tough result to accept. LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Taverham RESULT:1-2 L REPORT: Norwich City stepped onto the pitch with their usual positive attitude and was looking forward to their match against Old Loughtonians. Norwich conceded a goal fairly early on despite some tough defending. With this in mind City were quick to build up momentum and a well worked ball around the goal keeper by player of the match Debbie Painter gave Norwich the equalizer. Old Loughtonians put a lot of pressure on Norwich throughout the second half with all players defending well to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Both teams were fighting for the next goal and several green cards were shown to both teams as the match started to heat up. Unfortunately, in the last 5 minutes of the game Old Loughtonians struck the ball and it hit City’s back board. Despite appealing due to the player and ball being outside of the shooting D, the goal was awarded and Norwich had to deal with yet another loss. A week’s break will help re group our focus towards an away match at Wapping in a few weeks.

LADIES 1ST XI - 19/11/2016 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 19/11/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 19/11/2016 HEADLINE: Local Derby goes way of the Dragons LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Dragons Den RESULT: 3-0 Loss REPORT: City were under pressure from the off as 2nd placed Dragons applied early pressure into City half although Citys strong defence held firm and stopped Dragons from any clear cut chances before 20 minuets a great swift attacking move gave Dragons the lead, City came back though and created some chances on their own as if finished 1-0 at the break. In the 2nd half Dragons scored two set play goals which really killed City's chances a PC and PS were both coneverted by Dragons start player King. City did keep on fighting and in the whole defended quite well, City will be disapointed" to have not scored today however especially since they created numerous penalty corners without conversion. LADIES 1ST XI - 05/11/2016 VS MAIDSTONE 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 05/11/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 05/11/2016 HEADLINE: City pick up valuable point away from home LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Maidstone HC RESULT: 1-1 Draw REPORT: City Womens 1s picked up a valuable away point in their quest to stay up in the premier league. City were put under pressure early on but managed to stop Maidstone having any clear cut chances at goal as the first half finished 0-0. Maidstone again applied early pressure in the 2nd half and fought hard to take the lead from a PC. City fought back however and scored an equaliser in the final 10 minuets with a well work goal from Felicity Williams. FT: 1-1

LADIES 1ST XI - 29/10/2016 VS WAPPING 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 29/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 29/10/2016 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: RESULT: REPORT: After Norwich’s defeat the previous week, City were happy to be playing at home and after a confident warm up, stepped out onto the pitch to enjoy the game of hockey. Norwich started strongly, and dominating the play were awarded a penalty flick, it was well taken but unfortunately bounced off the left hand post and didn’t enable Norwich to take the lead. Norwich continued to pile the pressure on Wapping with a few one on one attempts at goal and a few narrow misses, however unable to convert anything proved to be costly for the home side. Shortly after Norwich conceded a goal; a straight strike gave Wapping the lead. A solid half time talk followed and with the game in reach, Norwich worked well throughout the pitch and despite attempts at goal, were put under further pressure, enabling Wapping to seal their lead with two further goals, both from open play. It was a positive performance from Norwich City, it was a game for both sides to enjoy and despite the result some excellent hockey was performed across the field and positive points have been noted ahead of the away game at Maidstone on Saturday 5th November.

LADIES 1ST XI - 22/10/2016 VS OLD LOUGHTONIANS 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 22/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 22/10/2016 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Old Loughtonians RESULT: 0-2 L REPORT: Norwich were looking for further points out of their match against Old Loughtonians; confident that this could be achieved, spirits were high and City was ready to perform. Unfortunately City was unable to gain any points from the following 70 minutes of play. Norwich started strong, with the majority of the possession, however weren’t able to score to take the lead. Following a period of positive pressure, Old Loughtonians managed to turn the tables in the second quarter of the game, breaking down the defence a handful of times to provide them with two goals in quick concession, enabling Old Loughtonians to take the lead into the second half. The second half was a much stronger half from Norwich City, the majority of the play was in Old Loughtonians half of the pitch. Player of the match was Emily Rash, who impressed with her confident play across the midfield. Despite some excellent shots played towards the goal, nothing could be converted and the game ended goalless for Norwich. With plenty to work on, Norwich now moves onto next week as a team, looking to gain further points in a challenging and enjoyable league.

LADIES 1ST XI - 15/10/2016 VS HOLCOMBE 1A (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 15/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 15/10/2016 HEADLINE: A four goal game and one point gained. LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Holcombe RESULT: 2-2 REPORT: After winning against Bromley & Beckenham, Norwich City Womens 1s travelled to Holcombe to try and gain a further three points. The match started off with a fair amount of pressure from Holcombe, with Norwich having to defend off a few short corners to keep the score line at 0-0. However despite this hard work, Holcombe eventually took the lead first from a lifted deflection. The match, started to gain some momentum and Norwich had some great opportunities in the first half to equalize, narrowing missing the goal on several occasions. The second half was an exciting, goal fueled half with Norwich equalizing from a well worked deflection from Katie Taubman, giving Norwich the boost to push for another. It was Holcombe however who managed to score, after breaking from midfield. Norwich was on the back foot once again and several green cards followed for both sides as the temperature of the game increased. Despite this, Norwich City’s Oli Williams scored from another deflection making the final score line 2-2. Despite Norwich having felt they lost a few points, with a win achievable, another point means they climb the table and can look forward to playing Old Loughtonians away on the 22nd October. Hannah Phillips was player of the match; making it an amazing four POM titles this season to date.

LADIES 1ST XI - 08/10/2016 VS BROMLEY & BECKENHAM 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 08/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 08/10/2016 HEADLINE: City taste victory for the first time in PREM Division LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 2-1 WIN REPORT: City Womens 1st XI tasted victory for the first time in the league this season as they won a tightly contested home game against Bromley and Beckenham. City were under the gosh in the first 20 minuets when Keeper Gina Hunt made some great saves before City started too create some chances of their own. City took the lead towards the end of the half from a Hannah Phillips PC goal. In the 2nd half City kept on battling and things were made difficult with cards for both F Williams and H Johnson but city stayed calm and managed to score a 2nd with a great move down the right finished well on the volley by Olivia Williams. City did however concede late on but managed to hold on for their first win in PREM division, the first ever for the club. A great achievement by all!

LADIES 1ST XI - 01/10/2016 VS WISBECH TOWN 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 01/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 01/10/2016 HEADLINE: Norwich City were hit hard by a more determined Wisbech side NORWICH CITY HOCKEY CLUB MATCH REPORT LADIES 1st - 01/10/2016 VS Wisbech TEAM: Womens 1’s DATE: 01/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 01/10/2016 RESULT: 1-3 (lost) REPORT Norwich City Womens traveled to Wisbech with an aim to come away with their first points of the season; with a positive attitude and professional approach. Hannah Phillips scored the opening goal early on for Norwich City after a well structured midfield worked the ball up the pitch. Wisbech however, determined to score, pilled on the pressure forcing Norwich City to defend through the remaining first half. Wisbech were rewarded just before the half time whistle and scored with an unfortunate deflection into the net. Entering the second half Norwich City were hit hard by a more determined Wisbech side, and despite a trying defense and some excellent saves from Gina Hunt , Norwich City’s player of the match, Wisbech scored twice more to put the score line 3-1 in their favor. On this occasion Norwich Womens 1’s didn’t managed to head home with their first points of the season, however are looking positively to another exciting game in a brilliant league.

LADIES 1ST XI - 24/09/2016 VS IPSWICH 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 24/09/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 24/09/2016 HEADLINE: City's 1s taste defeat in 1st home game LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Taverham - H20 RESULT: 1-4 Loss REPORT: The 1st XI had a tough game on their hands as they entertained ex national league team Ipswich womens 1s at Taverham, up for the challenge the 1s battled hard throughout the game and put on a strong display in front of a decent crowd. Some good saves from Summer Haylock kept the 1s in the game before a top of the d strike found the net for a 1-0 led for the away side. City 1s then started to create some chances and started to break away onto the Ipswich defence, an excellent pass from Debs Painter found an unmarked Olivia Williams who finished well past the keeper. 1-1. Sadly just before the break a short corner goal managed to find the corner as the away side led again. In the 2nd half City continued to battle hard against this strong team but without reward as Ipswich went onto score two further goals and kill the game as they sealed a 4-1 victory. Next week the 1s are away to familiar grounds at they face Wisbech who they played last season in Division 1N.

LADIES 1ST XI - 17/09/2016 VS CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 17/09/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 17/09/2016 HEADLINE: City start new season with defeat LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: Cambridge UNI HC RESULT: 3-1 Loss REPORT: City Womens 1st XI started the new season following promotion with a 3-1 away defeat to Cambridge UNI Womens 1s, City started well and welcomed Hannah Jarvis from the Womens 2s and Emily Anthony from a long lay-off. Serena Scott played well in goal and kept city in the game with numerous great saves. However the UNI side had managed to knock two goals in before half time before Hannah Jarvis pulled one back for City, City keep going till the end but UNI added a third to seal the win. City gave a good account for themselves and scored two good goals from Hannah Phillips and Fong Chung in a 4-2 defeat. Plenty of positives in their opening run around game.
