WOMENS 3RD XI - 01/11/2025 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 01/11/2025 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 01/11/2025 HEADLINE: City 3s vs Bury 1s LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE: taverham RESULT: 1-7 loss REPORT:City were in the mood for a great day of hockey with the sun shining and tunes raising the spirits. As the ball pushed back city worked solidly out from the back up the wing to find our goal hungry Helen in the D who secured an early 1-0 lead against a formidable Bury side. The oppositions fire was lit and they fought for a short corner that was defended solidly by Lola running a speedy first man and Alice on the post. The bury side equalised and city reset ready to take on a very dynamic attacking team. The city midfielders worked collaboratively to build play through possession and solid passes with El J and Jen held back the offensive press. However bury broke through and got 2 more goals before halftime. With heads still held high, the press working effectively holding back bury with great outletting from Marie and Chloe. Bury eventually broke through with a player breaking past the back line to make it 1-4. Jo had some impressive saves from Bury shortcorners that were unconventional and some pretty great shots. After taking one on the calf, a follow up short corner made it 1-5. The last goals came in quick succession despite the combined efforts of the forward line and the midfield push from Marie, working 1-2s with El up the pitch. Holding the press to the very end, the final score was 1-7 but did not reflect the skill, attitude and prowess of the city side today. Well done to all as we really pulled together as a team to keep morale high and the scores low.
