Update from Ladies Club Captains
22 Jul 2024

Dear Ladies members,

We would like to introduce ourselves as your club captains for the 24/25 season!

Ladies 1-3s: Lucy Tilbrook (1s) who has been a member for 7 years.

Ladies 4-7s: Cat Thompson (6s) who has been a member for 5 years.

We are both available for any questions or problems that you have this season, so please feel free to get in touch, our details are on the website, but we have also put them at the bottom of this email.

Our mission for the season
Hockey is always going to be competitive, but above all else it should be fun. We want the club to be a welcoming and supportive environment, for players of all abilities and life stages. This is your club, and we want you to have your say and your voice heard. We have attached a form to this email, and we would like you to be as honest as possible about your playing aspirations, motivations as well as giving us constructive and honest feedback about what we can do to improve the club. There is also an option to remain anonymous if you would like to. Please could you do this before the first training session (7th August), otherwise we'll assume no news is good news. There are also feedback QR codes around TRF, we really encourage you to give feedback both positive and negative through this, or directly to us, throughout the season. We can't change anything if we don't know it's a problem.
https://forms.gle/S2X9zdzHDtJHWVfz9

Team selection
We encourage you all to be as ambitious as possible in your playing and promote healthy competition within the club, however we also want the selection process to be as fair and transparent as possible.
Therefore, this year we are going to hold selection games at the beginning and middle of the season to make sure everyone is offered the opportunity to play at the highest level they are able. The decisions will be made by the coaches and the captains, and reviewed mid-season so that there is a greater level of stability in the teams. Please also be prepared to play one team up or down during the season, particularly when availability is low, but we will try and keep this to a minimum.

Rules for game day selection
Rules for selection that have been decided at an executive level:
Availability is on the website by the previous Monday (even if this is set to pending if you are unsure)
Less than £50 of debt/one months' worth of debt

Timeline for selection
Monday - All players have done availability ready for the next game on the website.
Tuesday - Captains meet and organise their teams.
Wednesday - Team sheets will go out on the website.
Saturday - Game Day

Our objectives for the season
Support the ladies1s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s in remaining in their respective leagues and supporting the ladies 2s in being promoted.

What we want from you
What we want from you is commitment, honesty, a good attitude and to provide us with constructive criticism and feedback. We want to really push attendance at training, commitment to matches, and completing availability to make your captains lives much easier. We do understand that family and job commitments can make this challenging, but if there are any ways we can make training or matches more accessible we are open to hearing them.
Players are ultimately responsible for their own fitness, but we are keen to encourage fitness and team bonding outside of training, so we would also like to start up a social run club. This will be on Tuesday nights starting at 6.30 from the black horse, with a 5-7k route and a variety of different paces, so please don't feel you cannot be included if you are a slower runner. The first of these will be on the 20th August, followed by a pint afterwards.

Recruitment
We are always looking for new players at the club, whether they've never played hockey before, or they are looking to get back into it. The first training session they come to is free so encourage them to come along and have a go. We are also offering a 10% discount on membership to both you and the recruit if they sign up for membership in August or September.

Membership
Membership packages start from August, any training or matches played before the start of the membership package have to be paid for separately, so we really encourage you to get these sorted early. We will let captains know as soon as they are live.
You cannot sign up to a new membership if you have any debt so please clear that ASAP if you have any so you're able to play next season.

Positions that still need filled
If you fancy volunteering with the club, there are several positions we are still looking to fill, if you want clarity on any of the roles or what they involve please let us know.

Fundraising and sponsorship
We are looking to up our fundraising and sponsorship this year. Our plans are to have some fun tournament days through the season to try and encourage some more social hockey. We are also looking for sponsorship for all teams, we will send out some material later on but if you have a business that is looking for some advertising, this could be a great opportunity!

Most of all, we hope you all have a great 24/25 season.

See you soon!
Lucy and Cat

• The Refer a New Player Initiative is only available from 1st August until 30th September 2024.
• Referrals can-not be made retrospectively, and a referral must be made by the new player by 30th September 2024.

AGM - 2nd June 2024
22 Apr 2024

This year's AGM will be held at TRF on Sunday 2nd June 2024 at 1pm.

A social event, probably some matches, are hopefully being arranged with a view to being played before the AGM. There is also the possibility of food being available after the AGM so people can hang around and have a drink with something to eat whilst catching up with fellow club members.

The club needs both players and parents to try and help in some way i.e. it could be just for a few hours a month or you might fancy taking on a club role either fully or partially for next season. All club positions are available.

Any time you can give to the club would be great!

Membership packages - do/don't include
26 Feb 2024

Just a quick post to clarify what membership packages (diamond & platinum) do and don't include!

Membership packages are only effective from when they were set up.. Any fees prior to set up will still appear as an outstanding debt.

Also please note that packages are not applicable for friendlies and Sunday cup fixtures/matches so again will show as a debt. This is on the basis that we have not priced them in this way - as its a very ad-hoc item that many players don't opt to join in!

If you have any further queries then please contact either membership@norwichcityhc.co.uk or accounts@norwichcityhc.co.uk for further assistance.

Treasurer assistant or treasured - please help us
8 Oct 2023

Role Title: Treasurer Assistant for 2023-24 (aka help Maria out!) - with the hope of helping more in the following season

Who we need: Someone who has a natural flair for numbers (geeks are cool admit it), is annoyingly organised and is passionate about giving back to the club via a small number of hours per month! No you don't necessarily need to be an accountant, just have a reasonable brain for numbers. Simples!

What would you need to be willing to help with:
- process member, coach & umpire expense claims via Barclays banking app once a month
- check, process & pay invoices (only approximately 5/6 a month)
- learn how to use QuickBooks accounts software (its easy Maria promises!) - this helps us keep track of bank transactions and reports a lovely income/expenditure report for us each month
- budget certain areas of expenditure
- help man the treasurer email inbox and respond to any member/player ad-hoc queries (usually this is more at the start of the season at a low level)
- attend monthly committee exec meetings and talk through how the club finances are tracking (you will shadow Maria on this don't worry!)
- help nag & remind people to pay
- help determine any fee increases each season
- suggest better ways of doing things

How do I find out more: If you are now squirming around in your chair with excitement after reading the above (ok maybe not squirming...), and wish to help, please give Maria a shout maria@hiddentalents.org.uk.
