FIXTURE: Colts XI VS 08/11/2015
HEADLINE: City hit six as they down Deeping
Norwich city U18 boys turned up to Taverham with mixed views about their game ahead against Bourne Deeping. City began well stringing some good passes together and creating some good chances. Also creating good chances from short corners. The first goal came when a long ball found Ross Pitcher in the D who beat the keeper with the ball but in the meantime got wiped out by the oncoming keeper resulting in a penalty flick. Sam Paterson then dispatched the flick superbly putting it in the top left hand corner of the goal. Straight from the start after city scored, Bourne Deeping attacked down the right hand side of the pitch and won a short corner that was then scored and got them right back in the game. The goal from the opposition seemed to urge city on that little bit more and again they put constant pressure on the Bourne Deeping goal and this resulted in a short corner. Sam Paterson then scored a great drag flick, which hit the bar and flew straight into the back of the net. From that point onwards city dominated the game with the solid defence of Ethan Marchant and Ali Husband, Alfred Kidner and Tom Ling. The third goal came when Sam Paterson broke up play and moved it onto Sam Tomlinson who played the ball into Will Kidner, the keeper saved the first shot but could not keep out the on coming Ross Pitcher who fired home a fierce shot.
Half time 3-1
City once again began the second half and had most of the play in the oppositions half with odd break away from the opposition. City won constant short corners but just was not able to score. Bourne Deeping however did bring some breakaway attacks and if it wasn’t for the solid goalkeeper Fred Anthony pulling of a good save from a reverse hit shot Bourne Deeping would have been back in the game. Norwich continued to work with great work up top from Joe Holden, Lewis Goodhall, Will Kidner and Ross Pitcher. Another goal finally came however when Lewis Goodhall had a shot and the rebound fell nicely to Sam Tomlinson who hit the ball home. Norwich’s superb work ethic continued as they carried on creating chances and finally the last goal came when Sam Tomlinson played the ball to George Brine at the top of the D who shot and placed it superbly in the bottom corner of the goal. Unfortunately Norwich did let their concentration slip and let a sloppy goal in but they will take the positives into the next round of the cup on the 22nd of November.
