WOMENS 3RD XI - 27/10/2018 VS BROADLAND 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: Triumphant 3s LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham (h) RESULT: 4-2 (w) REPORT: This week NCHC women’s 3s hosted top of the league Broadland 1s in a friendly. It was a cold and wet start to what everyone knew would be a tough game. City began well, passing neatly and setting up the forwards to make some lovely runs into Broadland’s D. The first goal came from an attacking short corner, converted by City’s player of the match Emma Richardson. Following more good runs from City’s inners and forwards, Holly Totten received the ball and had a great shot on goal that hit the post, but Zara Howes caught the rebound to make it 2-0. City kept strong at the back with Karen Dagless and Jenny Brine working hard to keep the visitors out of the D, plus some brilliant saves from City keeper Milly Hyatt. After half time, a dominant City played more lovely link up balls between the forwards and the inners, adding Olivia Greenway to the score sheet to make it 3-0. Broadland came out more defiant in the second half, finding gaps and sneaking in their first goal. Gaining momentum, Broadland scored a second, decreasing the host’s lead to just one goal. But with some strong running from Jenny Stangham and some great partnering with Ellie Hobden, City attacked and a cross ball in the was tapped over the line by Olivia Greenway waiting on the post. Final score 4-2 to City, who will be more than ready for the league fixture against Broadland.

L (2-3) 27/10/2018 - M2 vs Wisbech Town 1 (H / L) ANOTHER ONE SLIPS BY |

MENS 2ND XI - 27/10/2018 VS WISBECH TOWN 1 (H) TEAM: Mens 2nd XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 2nd XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: Another one slips by LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 1 VENUE: TRF RESULT: 2-3 Loss REPORT: On what felt like the first day of winter, city hosted Wisbech, a team city had to beat to stay with the mid table pack. In the pre match team talk Captain Fatan (Hindle) was keen to highlight the previous two games which had seen Norwich concede early goals to lack of concentration, something he didn’t want to happen today. City started brightly, moving the ball around the back and linking well with midfield, city seemed in control until a couple of sloppy passes giving Wisbech time to close down, intercept and break away putting Wisbech 1-0 up. One man band Harry Gill then stepped up to win the ball in midfield and immediately turned to run, playing a through ball to Ben Withers who quickly returned for Gill to slot in the corner of the goal. City realising Wisbech had a danger man quickly man marked and putting in some hefty tackles, Hindle leading the way using his axe to chop him down, followed by Scotty making a beaut of a reverse tackle but in doing so bounced off the player injuring his knee, game over for Alex Scott. With Norwich down a key defender a loose clearance ended up with a converted short comer, Wisbech 2-1 up. Norwich again controlling the game and winning several short comers with the Wisbech keeper making some impressive saves, up stepped Chris Perry for a monstrous flick 2-2, the goalie couldn’t keep that one out. Norwich tried to push for a winner but a lack of concentration from Dave Fletcher on the side line saw him take a few minutes in the sin bin with a yellow. Wisbech made use of the extra man putting the pressure on the city defence, a wayward pass leading to a short corner to Wisbech, they made city pay, 3-2. Norwich looked for a deserved 3rd goal in the remaining minutes but Wisbech held possession well not giving any chances away. Thanks for coming: Ben Plumb....again MOM : Rich Green

MENS 3RD XI - 27/10/2018 VS CAMBRIDGE NOMADS 1 (H) TEAM: Mens 3rd XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 3rd XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: City gives a good game to a sharp Nomads team! LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH VENUE: TRF RESULT: 7-0 Loss REPORT: This was always going to be a difficult match for the Mens 3s, playing top of the league Cambridge Nomads 1s. With a team containing two debutants in Elliot Fox and Joseph Roy, City were focused on playing good, positive hockey. City found themselves behind within the first few minutes, after a breakdown of play in midfield led to a swift attack from Nomads which they took full advantage of. It wasn’t long before Nomads added a second to their tally and City knew that they needed to wake up if they wanted to stay in the game. For the remainder of the first half City worked hard across the pitch and pressed well, causing a few errors by Nomads. City upped their passing game and soon had a few chances of their own. Unfortunately, none of these proved fruitful and half time was met with a scoreline of 2-0 to the visitors. City hoped to start the second half as they had ended the first, however as time wore on City grew tired and the sharp Nomads took full advantage. A quick succession of goals meant that the game was out of City’s reach, but they still continued to work well as a team and tried to play the nice hockey that they set out to. The match ended 7-0 to the visitors, but City can hold their head high as there was lots of positives to take away from their performance.

MENS 4TH XI - 27/10/2018 VS IPSWICH 3 (A) TEAM: Mens 4th XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 4th XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: Tough going in Ipswich LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST VENUE: Ipswich Sports Club RESULT: Lost 2-3 REPORT: Norwich City Men's 4th XI travelled to Ipswich to play their 3rd XI on a cold Saturday afternoon and soon found the going tough on a lifeless, sandy Henley Road surface. Ipswich had a strong side, with a core of experienced midfielders that Norwich struggled to deal with throughout the match. City, in contrast, boasted a typically youthful squad including Under 16's Sam Hyatt, Alex Tomkinson, Jonty Black and debutant Will Morrissey in goal. City's day was a story of precious few chances and a constant effort to avoid giving the the ball away softly in key areas of the pitch. Sadly for Norwich, Ipswich went into the break deservedly two goals to the good After a half time wake up call from captain Ingham, City played noticeably better in the second half. Chances came and went at both ends, and with Morrissey holding his own at this high level, City ventured forward with greater confidence. Reward came when Tomkinson opened their account with a clinical finish after his first effort was well saved. This seemed to spark Ipswich back into life, and they regained their two goal cushion with a well taken close range effort. City never give up hope of getting something from the game, and it was the ever reliable Adie Land who scored what proved to be a consolation late in the half. Final score - Ipswich 3:2 Norwich City Man of the Match - Will Morrissey

MENS 5TH XI - 27/10/2018 VS PELICANS 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 5th XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 5th XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: Just pipped to the final hurdle! LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham - Sand RESULT: 4-3 Loss REPORT: After a disapointing start to the season the Mens 5th XI were looking to bounce back at home against a strong 2nd placed Pelicans team. Pelicans had a mix of youth and experience but were on top in the first half, City had Charles Anderson to thank in goal for saving a penalty flick but he had little chance with Pelicans first's goal. City battled hard but it was Pelicans who were the stronger in the first half with City's defence of Koppleman, Paterson, Hughes and Hooper had to rebel constant Pelicans attacks. City however did have one break away with Holden doing some great skill on the byline and with some good advantage played by umpire Ling he managed to sqaure the ball to the onrushing Mark Bailey to finish low into the corner. However sadly not long after City equalised Pelicans regained the lead with an aerial all the way from the back into the 23 was scrambled home from a tight angle. 2-1 Pelis at half time. The 2nd half started just like the 1st half with Pelicans once again starting on top and putting a lot of pressure on the City defence, however City's midfield of Bailey, Hughes and new recruit Duncan Buckmaster started to become more influential and a low drag flick from James Hughes from a short corner brought City level. However the game turned into pinball for the rest of the half as both teams started to tire and fire more long balls, Pelicans once again regained the lead for 3-2 before similar to City's 2nd goal James Hughes once again fired a low drag flick into the goal to equalise. The game was in the balance but sadly for City in the final 5 minutes another cross into the City D from the Pelicans winger saw the ball glanced home by the Pelicans forward to give the home side a 4-3 victory. A tough result for City to take but they must work on keeping the ball if they are to pick up any points in their next fixture against Bury.

MENS DEVELOPMENT XI - 27/10/2018 VS NORWICH DRAGONS B (H) TEAM: Mens Development XI DATE: 27/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens Development XI VS 27/10/2018 HEADLINE: Wilson Hat-Trick LEAGUE: NORFOLK DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 8-1 REPORT: The City developments started well against Norwich Dragons B with Archie Ward dribbling through a static defence to slot home the first goal. City extended their lead with a well worked move round the back of the Dragons defence well finished by Max Wilson. The game then became tight for the remainder of the half. Dragons scored from a short corner and could have scored again if it had not been for solid defending from Krishna Patel, Sam Hancock, Angus Irving (captain for the day) and Harvey Nkrumah. The game was on a knife edge at half time. Max Wilson extended City’s lead shortly after half time but the game remained close until Max decided to control things. Within minutes he scored his third goal and set up two others; the second of which a bouncing reverse stick cross which was well finished by Kit Pallister. The final quarter was less intensive but City picked up two further goals with good strikes from the top of the D by Mattie Roy and Freddie Smith
