WOMENS 5TH XI - 27/01/2024 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES 6 (A) TEAM: Womens 5th XI DATE: 27/01/2024 FIXTURE: Womens 5th XI VS 27/01/2024 HEADLINE: Late away draw LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST (NORTH) VENUE: Harleston Magpies RESULT: 0-0 REPORT: We dragged ourselves to Harleston for this late afternoon game, knowing we were one point ahead of them in the league and that we had drawn against them last time. We were raring to go and kept them on their toes in the initial play of the game. We kept the ball up in their half and proved a formidable force to break against. The team were spritely given the time and we ran our hearts out, passing strongly and keeping good possession. Magpies had some good breaks in retaliation but could not get through our defence or superstar keeper Zara, and with a few very close but unsuccessful attempts on goal at the very end of the first half, we went in to half time nil nil. Harleston came back strong in the first few minutes of the second half, but their renewed vigour was matched by city and a pretty uneventful second half saw us finish nil nil; not to be sniffed at, we had a good game and was worth the trek to the depths of beyond and the dark drive home.

MENS 3RD XI - 27/01/2024 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 3rd XI DATE: 27/01/2024 FIXTURE: Mens 3rd XI VS 27/01/2024 HEADLINE: Good spirited competitive game LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham RESULT: Norwich City 1 - 1 Bury REPORT: On Saturday 27th January we started with a late pushback against Bury 2s. The game began very evenly until they went ahead with a short corner goal, but we were quick to respond with a quick counter and Charlie lifting it through the keeper. Next some cards were given so with nine men we had to go defensive, and we held out. After half time we were still dominating defensively even with 9 men at one point again both defending short corners and not letting Bury in our circle very much. Sadly, we just could not take our chances up top, but we kept playing till the final whistle. The match ended 1-1. Well played boys and looking forward to next week. Player of the match: Ben Hawes
