W (9-3) 21/10/2017 - W1 vs Watton 1 (H / L) CITY AND STORM BRIAN BLOW WATTON AWAY. |

LADIES 1ST XI - 21/10/2017 VS WATTON 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI vs Watton 1 - 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City and Storm Brian blow Watton away. LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 1 NORTH VENUE: TRF, NORWICH CITY HC RESULT: NORWICH CITY 9, WATTON 3 REPORT: On Saturday 21st October, table-topping Norwich City 1s wanted to continue their great momentum against Watton. In front a full home crowd, city were full of confidence straight from the push back. Without delay City forced Watton onto the back foot. Flic Williams forthwith showcased her disguised slap, scoring two and assisting a beautifully worked short corner, finished with an agile deflection by Oli Williams. Despite the pressure, Watton struck on a quick counter attack, but City dominated possession soon after. The defensive unit of Summer Haylock, Suzy Mitchell, Sally Rose, Dani Sizer, Harriet Johnson, Flic Williams and Fongy ensured Watton attacks were cut short, allowing City to attack relentlessly. This saw Norwich convert two more, to the frustration of the Watton defence. Krystal Bishop opened her account with a calm finish. Emily Francis followed with a neat half-volley on her reverse. City finished the first half with a convincing 5-1 lead. A spurring team talk from Pies encouraged the team to continue commanding possession and see the game through for another victory. Watton started the second half with intent and hence managed to get a goal back. However, City continued their swift attacking play as Micayla Tootill, Rachel Mayne and captain, Jo Staines tore down the pitch. City managed to capitalise on this pressure as Krystal Bishop fired two home in quintessential fashion, rounding off her hat-rick. The City defence stood strong as they repeatedly interrupted the Watton play. Felicity Williams and Rachel Mayne time and time again picked out the forward line of Krystal Bishop, Abbie Ingham, Emily Francis and Oli Williams, who lead tirelessly. Sally Rose could have added to the scoring as Oli Williams won a penalty flic, shortly after Krystal Bishop hit the post. Sally left the goal keeper going the wrong way, but the ball hit the post (again!) and unfortunately ricocheted out the goal. Nonetheless, dynamic City managed to score again as Ange Hindle saw her hard work pay off, with a brilliantly placed shot into the bottom corner. However, Watton were persistent and City saw themselves concede again. Norwich responded turbulently, not letting the Watton defence rest. A deft piece of play up the left saw Krystal Bishop set up Abbie Ingham, as City reached nine. Another win for City sees them continue their threatening form as they look to pursue another win next week. POTM and match report written by Abbie Ingham.

L (1-2) 21/10/2017 - W2 vs North Norfolk 1 (H / L) CITY UNLUCKY |

LADIES 2ND XI - 21/10/2017 VS NORTH NORFOLK 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 2nd XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 2nd XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City Unlucky LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE: TRF RESULT: L 1-2 REPORT: City started the day with a decent team talk from coach Chris and a decent warm up too. They started the game with fire in their bellies. Decent talking, decent passing, decent runs from everyone on the pitch and city had some good chances. Unfortunately, none were converted to goals, but a positive start nonetheless. North Norfolk scored an unlucky goal in the first half which gave them the head start, but this didn’t get to City at all. City kept their heads up. Excellent running from POTM Rosie, Milly, both Hannah’s and Alice Gill gave city some lovely chances, and one particular run from Alice Gill lead to City being awarded a penalty flick. Danni scored to draw the score line level going into half time. Second half, many chances created again with city making some threatening runs and balls into the ‘D’, and being awarded multiple short corners, making NN’s lives very difficult in their defensive roles. Unfortunately, none were scored; however, City continued to work tirelessly. A really unlucky goal against the run of play came, which gave NN the lead and the game finished 1-2.

LADIES 3RD XI - 21/10/2017 VS BROADLAND 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City win derby clash LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: RESULT: 4-2 REPORT: The game started off with City putting on the pressure, with some great attacking moves. City were struggling to convert the goals although a few early chances. City looked solid in defence forcing Broadland to make some early errors. Emily Spencer scored a great straight strike from a short corner allowing City to take an early 1-0 lead. At half time a great team talk from Danni Harwood got the City players motivated to maintain there wining style. Broadland were up for it and piled on the pressure. After a corner Broadland managed to squeeze a goal. 1-1. Norwich City then gained a great goal from Sophia Bassett another goal from Emily Greenway. Broadland piled the pressure on and started to look dangerous in front of goal. They gained another goal! City then went onto get a penalty flick as Sophia Bassett was taken out as shooting at goal. Great flick taken by Sophia - final score City won 4-2. Well done Emily Spencer player of the match.

D (4-4) 21/10/2017 - W6 vs Broadland 3 (H / L) CITY EQUALISE IN LAST FEW SECONDS OF MATCH |

LADIES 6TH XI - 21/10/2017 VS BROADLAND 3 (H) TEAM: Womens 6th XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 6th XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City equalise in last few seconds of match LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 2 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 4-4 City 6s faced a confident and newly-promoted Broadland, flying high in the league after a recent run of good form, for a windy end-of-the-day clash at Taverham. After a strong start by City, the team’s first goal was scored 20 minutes into the first half when Abigail Flatt converted a pass into the D. A second City goal came after some determined work by attacker Katy Walker in the D and a scuffle around the goalmouth. Finally, a clear-headed Frances Underhill skillfully lifted a rebound ball over the keeper's feet. But, the game was far from over. Pressing hard, Broadland pulled back a goal before the whistle and the game went into the half-time break with City leading 2-1. The City team dug deep after the break and a baseline run by Kate Houldey was passed into the D for Julia Marchant to convert into City’s third goal. However, a determined Broadland upped their game, refusing to give in. Despite, some fantastic saves by player of the match City goalie Clair Richardson, and some impressive tackles from defender Vicki Myhill who repeatedly stopped the opposition in their tracks and sent the ball back to City's attackers, the Broadland attack proved too challenging. Within a short space of time City had lost their lead after a spate of short-corner and top of the D goals by Broadland. With the game almost over and facing a 4-3 defeat after leading for most of the game, City were determined not to give in and kept fighting hard. With just 30 seconds left to play, Josine van den Berg took a powerful shot on goal and the rebound from the save was netted by Emily Williams. A collective sigh of relief and a well-earned point for the 6s.

W (3-0) 21/10/2017 - M1 vs West Herts 2 (A / L) TOP NOTCH FIRST HALF SEES CITY EASE PAST WEST HERTS 2 |

MENS 1ST XI - 21/10/2017 VS WEST HERTS 2 (A) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: Top notch first half sees City ease past West Herts 2 LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION B VENUE: Watford RESULT: 3-0 REPORT: Norwich made the trip down to Watford in their longest away trip of the season in a positive frame of mind and this showed from the off. City took control of the game, creating some good chances, but not managing to find the breakthrough. The deadlock was eventually broken when Luke Corden, who found himself playing up front (not his usual position), finished a team move with a real poachers effort at the back post. City were winning more short corners than they were at the start of the season and managed to convert one when Raunaq Rai has acres of space in the slip right position and calmly placed the ball inside the keepers near post as he was wrong footed expecting the ball to be played to the back post. Almost immediately after the restart Norwich extended their lead further through a quick counter attack down the right resulting in Dan Cheesman providing the assist by crossing the ball to, again, Luke Corden ready to poach at the far post. Norwich continued to push for more goals throughout the second half as the game became more scrappy and stretched. There was good link up play from forwards Tom Cox, Dan Cheesman, as well as youngsters Josh Bailey, Harry Paterson, and Cameron Cooke, however it seemed the finishing touches were just alluding City in the second half as everyone wanted to try to get on the scoresheet. Ali Cooke got his first touch of the game 5 minutes from time as he came out to smother when a forward found himself free just a few metres out from goal. Even as more chances came Norwich could not add to their tally for the day and the scoreline eventually finished 3-0; a deserved victory for Norwich, who played their best hockey of the season so far in the first half. Luke came away with a deserved man of the match following his brace; a good way to celebrate a birthday for someone who’s not normally renowned for his goalscoring!

D (2-2) 21/10/2017 - M2 vs Dereham 2 (H / L) LATE GOALS STUN CITY |
---|
MENS 2ND XI - 21/10/2017 VS DEREHAM 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 2nd XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 2nd XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: Late Goals Stun City LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH VENUE: Taverham H2O RESULT: 2-2 REPORT: City welcomed Dereham 2's, hoping to continue where they left off with a good performance against Harleston 2's the previous week. City dominated with most of the possession in the early stages of the game. Stuart Wardale caused havoc for the Dereham defence with his pace and skill, winning short corners for City. It wasn't long before City's dominance paid off and Jeremy Elliot fired home a shot from the centre circle into the bottom right hand corner of the goal. A second goal from City came soon after the first, with Stuart Wardale literally passing the ball into the bottom left hand corner. HT 2-0 City City continued their run of good play creating several chances throughout the second half. However, City were unable to extend their lead due to some good saves by the Dereham keeper. City were pushing for a goal to seal the deal, however, a slight lapse in concentration from City led to a counter attack from Dereham, finishing with a scrappy goal. With minutes left until the final whistle, City were caught too high up the pitch again and one stray pass led to a clinically executed counter attack by Dereham. Final Score 2-2 Overall, City will feel like this was a loss for them, considering Dereham only managed three shots on target throughout the match. City will need to forget about this result when they face Harleston 3's next week and will need to remember the good hockey they have been playing this season. MOTM - Sam Bingham TYFC - Tom Hindle

W (5-2) 21/10/2017 - M3 vs Norwich Dragons 3 (A / L) CITY WALK AWAY FROM THE DEN WITH COMFORTABLE WIN! |
---|
MENS 3RD XI - 21/10/2017 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 3 (A) TEAM: Mens 3rd XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 3rd XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City walk away from the Den with comfortable win! LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST VENUE: Dragons Den RESULT: 5-2 Win REPORT: Another game, another 3 points and another day when the scoreline is again harsh on us. We played some good hockey in the 1st half which led to goals from Rees Leonard (PC) and Ben Plumb on the breakaway, it should of been 3-0 had it not been for a strange umpiring decision from the Dragons umpire to suggest that it was outside the D when clearly it was in, it was even much strange when Dragons managed to sneak a goal just before the break at 2-1, again strange how they were allowed to use the back of the stick to put it in the goal. Anyway moving on into the 2nd half City again played some good hockey and dealing with ease any Dragons attacks, it was only a matter of time before City racked up more goals with another Rees Leonard (PC), Toby Leonard added a 4th on the reverse as well as Ben Plumb finishing cooly into the bottom corner, it was going to take a mistake in the backline for Dragons to score again and it was just that, as their striker had a simple tap in following a mistake from el captain! Overall a comfortable win though with City 3s playing Dragons 3s and showing who are the best 3s in Norwich! And as the Dragons match report said last week, we gave Dragons 3s what for!

MENS 4TH XI - 21/10/2017 VS SUDBURY 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 4th XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 4th XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: Washed away by the Suds LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 2:5 REPORT: This bottom of the table clash saw Norwich City 4s and Sudbury 2s battle it out in typical style for teams struggling for form. City started the stronger and had the better chances early in the game with Kidner and Gedge both causing the Sudbury defence problems. After a flurry of good passing moves City took the lead through Higginbotham at the end of a strong short corner routine. Although Sudbury pushed forward looking for an equalizer for the remaining minutes of the half, City could have easily gone into the break 4 goals to the good had the decision making process turned out differently. This seemed to effect a City team short on confidence and calmness and from the start of the second half Sudbury pushed forward with ease. Their overlapping midfield and quick passing were too good for a fragile City back line and within minutes of the restart Sudbury found themselves running away with the game. City gifted the visitors 3 quick goals in a matter of minutes which took the game away from Norwich and although they managed to pull a goal back through Roy, Sudbury scored a further 2 goals on the break to seal a comfortable victory and move off the bottom of the table. City MOM: Paul Roy

W (2-1) 21/10/2017 - M5 vs Norwich Dragons 4 (A / L) CITY MAKE IT 5 FROM 5 AS THEY WIN AWAY TO RIVALS DRAGONS |

MENS 5TH XI - 21/10/2017 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 4 (A) TEAM: Mens 5th XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 5th XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: City make it 5 from 5 as they win away to rivals Dragons LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 4 NORTH EAST VENUE: Dragons Den RESULT: 2-1 Win REPORT: NCHC 5s went into this game 2nd in the league and with high confidence having had a 100% record so far this season, however after having been 1-0 down in the 1st half and playing some awful hockey you would have to think how? However a 2nd half turn around with goals from Ady Marr following a PC and Haren Patel penalty stroke gave the 5s a 2-1 victory in what was a very scrappy game.

L (3-4) 21/10/2017 - M7 vs Pelicans 4 (A / L) FIRST DEFEAT OF THE SEASON |
---|
MENS 7TH XI - 21/10/2017 VS PELICANS 4 (A) TEAM: Mens 7th XI DATE: 21/10/2017 FIXTURE: Mens 7th XI VS 21/10/2017 HEADLINE: First defeat of the season LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 6 NORTH EAST (NORTH) VENUE: LYNNSPORT, KINGS LYNN RESULT: PELICANS 4 4 NORWICH CITY 7 3 REPORT: City 7’s suffered their first defeat of the season when they travelled to a windy Kings Lynn to face an experienced Pelicans team. City started well and went ahead after four minutes with some good work down the right which led to Rio Iaccarino applying the finishing touch. However, Pelicans fought back, attacking with numbers to frequently overrun the City defence where Charles Anderson in goal and the two City full backs Cameron Husband and James Dorling were working overtime. The goals flowed for Pelicans and by the break they were 4-1 up. The City half time team talk centred on all players working harder and defending from the front during the second period. The team followed the orders to a tee, Pelicans attacks were quashed earlier and the City players covered well defensively reducing the amount of attacking opportunities for the home side. Consequently, City were able to mount more attacks where the midfield of Rio Iaccarino, Jim Pallister and man of the match Toby Pallister were gaining a much stronger hold on the game. Rio Iaccarino pulled one back for City midway through the half to claim his second. Despite further opportunities City couldn’t add to their tally until a minute from time when Luke Keeley bundled home. A narrow loss, but a valuable lesson in the need for a high work rate.
