D (1-1) 19/10/2019 - W1 vs Upminster 1 (H / L) |
---|
WOMENS 1ST XI - 19/10/2019 VS UPMINSTER 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION VENUE: TRF RESULT: 1-1 REPORT: Following a few disappointing results, Norwich were keen to get some points on the board on their home turf. From the first whistle, the home side looked strong and immediately took charge of the game. Norwich began playing some great possession hockey, transferring the ball and opening up Upminster’s press. Through the gaps that had formed, a long ball from Norwich’s defence found Krystal Bishop in a 1 v 1 with the goalkeeper, who fired it into the far side net bringing the score to 1-0. As the game started to heat up, Upminster fought back pressing high and piling pressure on the defence. The ball was end to end and Norwich were unlucky not to score with Emily Francis leading the forward line and providing some excellent leading runs. Upminster returned fighting and forced Mikayla Glover to make some vital saves. Upminster’s attacking play was rewarded with a well worked goal, leaving the final score at a fair 1-1. Norwich continue their East Prem journey on home soil next Saturday against Cambridge University.

WOMENS 3RD XI - 19/10/2019 VS EAST COAST 2 (H) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: Another Clean Sheet for City 3s! LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: TRF RESULT: 4-0 REPORT: This week the womens 3s hosted East Coast 2 at home. It was a slow start but city worked hard to break the defence and made some good shots on goal. With some great passing across the back of defence to keep possession. City made some great passes and some great hits into the circle where Gabby Sharp was waiting on the post to tap in the two opening goals. City kept the pace going and dominated possession to win a few penalty corners, but unfortunately none could be converted. However with inners and forwards making some great runs, Mia Moore was able to put a third goal away for city to make it 3-0 at half time. There were a few times when East Coast broke and managed to get into the D but some great saves by keeper Anna Linsmith kept us in the game. There was some great defensive work from City, especially on the right by Gemma Sargent, who had to work hard against a dominant opposition attacker. City were putting together some great simple passes with power, which eventually led to a great through ball to Liv Greenway waiting at the top of the D to finish with a goal. Overall a great performance by City ending in a 4-0 win. Match Report provided by a well deserved Player of the Match; Emma Richardson.

MENS 2ND XI - 19/10/2019 VS LONG SUTTON 1 (H) TEAM: Mens 2nd XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 2nd XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: City just edge out thriller! LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH VENUE: Taverham - H20 RESULT: 4-3 Win REPORT: With Bailey, Scott, Fretwell, Elliott, Black, Anthony all missing with a few up to the 1s skipper Ling was over the moon when D Fletcher and J Luther were both available as they joined to make a squad of 13. City started really well and led 1 minute in with Harry Gill firing home a penalty corner. City kept up the good work and good moves involving Bowman, Roy and Hindle in the midfield led to some good chances created but not quite converted. With chances missed City started to panic and allowed sutton into the game and were thankful to keeper Millett who made some good saves to keep the home side in front. City won a stroke at the end of the first half following a foot on the line, Hindle told no by the umpires skipper Ling stepped up to covert the flick and give City a 2-0 led into the break. Into the second half and City created 5/6 really good chances at the start of the half with the Sutton keeper once again forced into several good saves. City were left to rue these chances as Sutton pulled a goal back. At this point City panicked and with Pallistar yellowed for 5 minutes Sutton were on top. However it was during Suttons best spell that City scored a third with Silvester turning and firing home into the bottom corner. City then let Sutton in again and gave away another soft goal. 3-2. With less than 10 minutes to go Ling released and aerial for the on running Gill to fire home, 4-2! With 2 minutes to go City kept the crowd excited as more poor defending let Sutton in for a third, 4-3! However City saw out the final few seconds to give then their second victory of the season. POTM: Harry Gilll TYFC: Richard Silvester!

L (0-10) 19/10/2019 - M3 vs Pelicans 2 (A / L) TO INFINITY AND BEYOD |

MENS 3RD XI - 19/10/2019 VS PELICANS 2 (A) TEAM: Mens 3rd XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 3rd XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: To infinity and beyod LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST VENUE: Lynnsport RESULT: NCHC 0 - 10 Pelicans REPORT: The true test of any team is how they deal with and what they do next when they face adversity. Today’s performance deserves a few thank yous: Thank you to Jonnie Pyatt for volunteering to be our keeper, I know that was not what he was hoping for when I welcomed his availability with open arms at the end of Tuesday’s training. Without him and some of his heroic saves the score would have been even worse. He seems to think he can hang up the pads now....watch this space! Thank you to Jason Hyatt for transporting 3 players for our match and two for the match that followed and for running the bench and staying positive throughout. Thank you to the calm senior heads of Rees Leonard and Adam Sayer who between them created our attacking opportunities and remained positive in the heart of midfield. Thank you to the team for remaining pretty positive and competing right to the end, the never give up effort was something you should be proud of. As to the game, Pelis were stronger than City in most departments capitalising on any lose balls and being decisive in midfield and attack. They scored 4 in the first half (real sucker punch at the end of the half) and 6 in the second. But for some great covering, in particular by Sam Hyatt and Henry Baker the score could have been a lot worse. It is great to see such young players play with maturity and responsibility beyond their years. City did have chances with Rees Leonard coming close on several occasions as did Rio Iaccarino and Toby Pallister but sadly to no avail. We move on to next week with a positive mindset and look forward to what we can influence rather than dwell on the past which is already history. We lose together, we win together, we learn together.

W (4-0) 19/10/2019 - M4 vs Bury St Edmunds 2 (H / L) KONCIECNZY HAT TRICK GETS CITY 4'S SEASON GOING |
---|
MENS 4TH XI - 19/10/2019 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 4th XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 4th XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: Konciecnzy Hat Trick gets City 4's season going LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 4-0 win REPORT: City's M4's finally got their season underway and moved off out of the relegation zone with a 4-0 home victory over Bury 2's Bury started the better of the two teams, and but for good defending and a fantastic game from Thrower in goal, City held firm. with 10 minutes gone, it was City who broke the deadlock at a short corner. Saran injected to Land, who slapped to Konieczny outside the post, who coolly deflected at goal, 1-0 City's second came from a similar short corner routine, Saran to Land, who played a one-two and then found Konieczny to slot home and double City's lead, 2-0 Half time Much of the same in the second half and the vital third goal of the game went City's way and with it the result, from (yes you've guessed it) another short corner. This time the routine broke down, but Hooper found himself on the ball with time and space to flick the ball high into the top left hand corner, 3-0 Then drama for City as the always dangerous Brine suffered a freak accident after accidentally colliding with fellow team mate Paterson ending up with a dislocated little finger. The drama was averted when on hand medic (and father of Rob) Mr McCall put it back in place, not without some pain for Brine judging by the noises he was making! The best was saved to last when, late in the game, Land picked up the ball in defence and quickly moved the ball left to Paterson, who in turn crashed the ball forward to Konieczny to round the keeper and complete his deserved hattrick and Player Of The Match award Final score: NCHC M4’s 4 : 0 Bury M2’s Player of the Match: Joe Konieczny

W (2-1) 19/10/2019 - MD vs Norwich Dragons (A / F) CITY PASS THEIR WAY TO VICTORY |
---|
MENS DEVELOPMENT XI - 19/10/2019 VS NORWICH DRAGONS (A) TEAM: Mens Development XI DATE: 19/10/2019 FIXTURE: Mens Development XI VS 19/10/2019 HEADLINE: City pass their way to victory LEAGUE: NORFOLK DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Norwich Dragons RESULT: 2-1 Win REPORT: We wanted to start the game with a simple good passing strategy, making the ball do the work and tiring the opposition and making sure that we attack as a team and defended as a team. From the first whistle this is exactly what City did by moving the ball from the back through Sam K and Lucas H or via Max M all linking up with Harry M and Charlie H creating some lovely link up play making several attacking chances into the Dragons D. Working off the midfield trying to create goal scoring chances were Kit P and Edward B playing with flare and confidence running the Dragons defence ragged at times and always having the awareness to play the ball back to the midfield or to the defence to restart the attack again if they were unable to penetrate the Dragon defence. Will J kept steady in goal, positioning himself well in his D by shot blocking at the right times and with a solid back defence it was a great combination. Eventually the deadlock was broken by Max M in the first quarter scoring after continuous pressure from the Norwich boys, well deserved. Defensively Ellis B and Benjamin H continued to make tackle after tackle thwarting the Dragons attack and yet having the mindset to make themselves available once we had secured possession wide enough to allow play to be moved down the outside flanks. Great work by Charl M and Will M working really hard on pitch and being placed in the different positions that they are not always use to - credit to them by making the opposition work. Into the third quarter it was still 0-1 to City and after another well constructed attack passing into the Dragons 25yd area Kit P decided to make an amazing run into the left side of the D skilfully passing several defenders along the back line and up to the goal, finally placing the ball through the keepers legs. Great goal and making it 0-2 to City. In the fourth quarter City made sure they did the simple stuff by passing well and not running with the ball due to tired legs which were becoming apparent, but Dragons sensing this started to pressure City with several last ditch attempts and in doing so made more attacks in the last quarter than during the whole of the game. This paid off by Dragons scoring quite a simple goal by passing through the middle and pushing the ball under the oncoming keepers feet. City stood firm and were still able make attempts on the Dragons goal and quite rightly held their heads high when the final whistle blew with a well fought and deserved win.
