Well where do we start, after a heavy 3 hour bus journey to Bromley, we got out and had to shake it off. An intense warm up from captain Jo certainly got our heads in game mode, and we were ready to go.  
 
From pushback we new we were in for a competitive game against top of the leauge, but we were fighting from the start. After great defence from fong , kathy and mikala, a quick breakthrough from bromley came, and the argintianan intonational broke though scoring with a reverse shot into the roof. Nothing could stop her. However as the game commensed Norwich were putting up the fight of the season and showing Bromley that we were in the game and were not going to give up the battle. Mykayla made some cracking saves in goal throughout the first half. Norwich came and made a fast counter attack on bromley, where The midfield worked the ball to ellie B who scored a banger. Fong scoring a blaster minutes after.  
Half time score 4-2?  
 
Second half starts and Norwich were raring to go. Slick play throughout midfield continues, and norwich were defending hard and strong throughout the second half. Every single player on Norwich’s team were putting in a brilliant fight, and were playing great hockey. The second half was won by norwich, as Irinea scored the last goal final score being 5-3. The umpires were great (apart from a card for ireina) Conditions were great. And coach Pies was very proud of our performance. Although final score was 5-3 as a team we were on top form and are shore we will be giving it our best fight next week. Man of match Alice Gill. #BLEEDYELLOW.

WOMENS 4TH XI - 19/01/2019 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES 4 (A)

RESULT: 8.0 loss 
 
REPORT: 
After a fantastic win last week NC Womens 4s travelled to Harleston with energy and enthusiasm, which was pinched away from the first whistle! The game was all but over after the first 10 minutes when they found themselves already 3 nil down after the Harleston forwards punished the lack of marking, having freedom in the circle and they were clinical in their finishing. Half time and 6 nil down, but it could have been much worse! 
 
City did regroup well in the second half, and found themselves with the odd foray into the Harleston half but were turned over and on the back foot once more. A further 2 goals to Harleston – final score 8.0 
 
Credit should go to all the team for a never give up attitude, continual chasing, and in particular to the City defence, Ellie and Karen Hobden, Gillian Allen, and Flo Duffield who were under pressure the entire game, and of course Anna Linsmith in goal but for her we would have crashed even harder. 
 
Harlestons performance is one for us to learn from and be inspired by the team performance they put in - Heads up girls – theres always next week ………….. 
 

WOMENS 6TH XI - 19/01/2019 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 7 (H)

REPORT: City dominated for the first 10 minutes of the match and played some great hockey, keeping the ball in the attacking 25. However, Dragons began to press and eventually took control of the game in the second half as City found it hard to combat the persistent pressure. The goals came when Dragons took back possession of the ball from a City 16 and took it straight back into the home team's net. The second goal was a breakaway goal after City unfortunately turned the ball over immediately after they won a short corner.

REPORT: 
We played really well and they scored to bang average goals.  
Hindle missed open goal. 
Lingy was amazing but missed the ICE pack. 
O well wont miss Potters Bar next year.... 

MENS 3RD XI - 19/01/2019 VS PELICANS 1     (H)

LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH

RESULT: 5-1 loss 
 
REPORT: 
City hosted Pelican first team at Taverham on a chilly afternoon. With a few new faces again in the line up, City took a few minutes to settle into the game. Once they did, City dominated play for a good 10 minutes, with even centre back Adam Sayer finding himself in the opposition's D. Unfortunately this pressure didn't result in a goal, and soon Pelicans were piling on their own pressure, taking advantage of counterattacks to test the City defence. A combination of marking errors and poor passing culminated in 7 minutes where City shipped a few goals: one from a nice deflection, one from a short corner strike, and another from a penalty flick, after Simon Black's valiant efforts to keep the ball out of the goal. 
City kept their heads up, and Jonty Black in the middle of the pitch caused no end of trouble for the Pelican midfield. Lloyd Sayer distribute well and linked up nicely with forwards Rees and Tobias Leonard. Again, City fell victim to a Pelican attack and at half time found themselves trailing 4-0. 
The second half was a more even affair, with City and Pelicans both having short corners. Pelicans did score again, but it was Will Kidner who managed to bag City's goal from a short corner deflection from Rees Leonard. 
Once again, City worked up to the last minute and sadly ended without any further goals . 
MOM: Jonty Black - excellent work in the midfield and unlucky not to score! 
TYFC: Skipper Adam Sayer - swing and a miss on the reverse ( stick to defending). 

MENS 4TH XI - 19/01/2019 VS THETFORD TOWN 1     (H)

RESULT: 5-4 Win 
 
REPORT: 
In a week where player shortage reached its usual post-Christmas peek, captain Frosty was thrilled to receive a morning call from Haren 'Upfront???' Patel saying he fancied a game. With Guy 'aggregate 6-9!' Thower playing back to back games in goal, we felt confident with strength in all areas against a team who had over run us with pace and skill in the centre of the park earlier in the year. 
 
It was evident from early exchanges that this would be an open encounter. One where City were never behind but never managed a two goal cushion. It wasn't long before Chris 'book a hearing test' Perry found himself on the right side of the D looking to assist once again as he had the previous week. On this occasion the pace of the ball only forced the defender to deflect into his own net. Cries of 'outside the D' came but not a chance. This would be the first of many complaints from the opposition. Thetford's pace and direct play was soon rewarded with an equaliser which included an unusually poor touch from Haren. He soon made up for it with a delightful drag flick just sneaking inside the left post. Once again Thetford drew level before Hooper popped up for City to lead again. Again complaints, centering around Duncan 'I'll stand where I want' Harris who was in the D sniffing for goals again after a magnificent double last week. That may have been half time but who knows, 3-2 to the good. Somewhere in the goal fest Perry saw green for sweeping the ball away after the whistle. He didn't hear it. He didn't hear it, ok.  
 
A little bit of positional sense and good ball movement was the order of the day from Frosty. Unfortunately, that didn't really go to plan and City were pegged back once again. Nick 'I'm ignoring you' Hooper saw yellow for not retreating even though he was reminded by the umpire multiple times. City harassed well with Paul 'call me Mr Roy' Roy in the middle although a stretch too far saw him receive a green for a clear trip. City down to 9 but they calmly saw off any threat with the defence looking solid even though we shipped 4 goals on the day. Back up to strength and City were starting to look dangerous with every attack. A wonderful team goal involving short, accurate and fast-paced passing was tapped home by Land after Perry, Mr Roy and Alex 'no commitment' Tomkinson had combined. I mean Norfolk over New York everytime. Following a fourth equaliser on the day for Thetford, City finally scored the decider. A short corner was fired in for Land to deflect reverse stick into the goal.  
 
All in all, a game the 4s deserved to win even though they made it difficult. Thetford helped with their constant moaning and poor discipline which saw them receive multiple cards. 
 
The league table is becoming close for second place with four teams battling it out. Next week the 4s host Felixstowe and will be keen to grab all three points after a poor show in Suffolk in October. Goals guaranteed! 
 

MENS 6TH XI - 19/01/2019 VS LOWESTOFT RLY 2 (A)

RESULT:lost 6-1 
 
REPORT: we turned up at Lowestoft with a fairly weak squad and no keeper . Philip Nun was game enough to put on the pads and act as Keeper for the day . We played fairly well at times but Lowestoft were a wel organised team . 
Nigel Cushion scored a consolation goal . PO T M was Philip Nunn for offering to play in goal and making several good saves . 
 

MENS DEVELOPMENT XI - 19/01/2019 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES (H)

RESULT: 2-1 victory 
 
REPORT: 
Firstly, congratulations to those making their debut in this Development match: Guy and Harry. They both showed good industry around the pitch and composure under pressure coming up with incisive passes throughout the game. They already have an assured platform from which to build and have clearly carved out a solid future for themselves at the club; we look forward to seeing them develop over the coming months and years, as we do for all of the devs. squad. The fact that they fitted right in is testament to the strength of the team ethic, particularly the maturity with which we handled the quick goal early on by Harleston, determinedly working our way back into the game. I was really pleased to see Harvey and Sam H in the midfield switching the ball often to the wide receivers - Ed (1st goal assist), Charlie (2nd goal assist), Sam K and Harry all of whom made good runs and offloads with the space this gave them. We had plenty of results from the questions we asked of their defence with 5 short corners - one of which Matt struck clanging like a bell off the post and then the opposing sidewall board only to be (correctly) judged too high with the two goals from Corey generated in open play - but if this is illustrative of the skills we have built for exciting competitive hockey, then bring it on! The midfield motors on Harvey, Mattie, Sam H, Kit and Ed helped close down and turnover the Harleston attacks and, if they got through, the assured and watchful Lucas, Guy, Louis and Sam K were ever present to clean up and initiate the next attack. When Harleston did penetrate the D they did so by using pace and running well off the ball, where tighter marking could be useful. A number of shots and particularly a number of goal mouth scrambles were won by Seb who had a great game growing in skill and stature, with close support by his courageous backs. In this way it was a victory for the whole team who could have been rightly proud of their endeavours whichever way the result might have gone, justifiable on the basis of possession, territory, turn-overs and shortcorners – anyway, well done!
