REPORT:
It was always going to be a tough match against East Coast on their home pitch but we were determined to make them work for the 3 points. Despite some great defending we went 1-0 down early in the game. Millie Brown and Marie Hood worked together impressively to get the ball out of defence and up to Lola Morford to make her impressive runs on the right wing. Alice Baker, on her 3s debut, made valuable tackles in the centre of the pitch and distributed well. Sofia Hancy and Alice Brown also linked up well on the left to make some promising attacks, leading to City scoring through Helen Brockington. 1-1 at half time and we were confident we could hold the draw or even score again. Unfortunately, it was not to be as a few breaks from East Coast led to them leading 4-1. City never gave up though and Alice Brown scored a great goal from a short corner bringing us back to 4-2. Jo Di-Corpo had a busy game in goal and made some fantastic diving saves as East Coast players weaved their way through the circle. Thank you to Leigh-Ann Worrall and Sofia Hancy for helping us out today and also to Longy for stepping in as Captain in the absence of Bambi (get well soon!).
