WOMENS 4TH XI - 08/11/2025 VS DISS LADIES 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 08/11/2025 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 08/11/2025 HEADLINE: NCHC L4 v Diss LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST (NORTH) VENUE: Hartismere College RESULT: 3-2 win Sunshine and spirit: Norwich Shine against Diss On an unusually warm November morning, Norwich City took to the pitch in their away kit, determined to make amends for last week’s result. From the very first whistle, City set the pace, launching numerous threatening attacks that immediately put Diss under pressure. A strong early connection between Caroline and Amber up the line saw Norwich move the ball fluently, testing the Diss defence. At the back, City remained composed and disciplined, transferring the ball elegantly across the pitch -a clear reflection of the passing techniques refined in recent training sessions. Midway through the first half, Norwich earned a short corner. A sharp injection found Vicky at the top of the D, who slipped the ball to Sim for a brilliant deflection into the goal 1–0 to Norwich. Moments later, Charlotte showed great skill manoeuvring around defenders to maintain attacking momentum. The pressure paid off again when Vicky found the net for City’s second, weaving past defenders and finishing confidently from open play. Norwich went into half-time with a 2–0 lead, arguably their strongest first-half performance of the season. After the break, Diss came out revitalised and quickly found their rhythm. Despite several superb saves from Anna in goal, Diss managed to pull one back, narrowing the score to 2–1. Eager to respond, Norwich pushed forward once more. Excellent build-up play led to another short corner, and Jess capitalised with a powerful straight strike from the top of the D, 3–1 to Norwich. Diss, however, refused to back down and soon found a second goal to make it 3–2, setting up a tense rest of the half. Norwich’s defence held firm thanks to Izzie’s relentless pressure and smart shadowing, while Jenny and Lucy tracked back tirelessly to repel further attacks. Encouraged by wise words from Head Coach Pies and the team’s infectious enthusiasm, City maintained their composure until the final whistle, securing a hard-fought 3–2 victory. A strong, spirited performance and a well-deserved win for Norwich City.

MENS 1ST XI - 09/11/2025 VS ST ALBANS (H) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 09/11/2025 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 09/11/2025 HEADLINE: Norwich break winless steak with thrilling comeback LEAGUE: CONFERENCE MIDLANDS VENUE: Taverham Recreational Facility RESULT: 4-2 win REPORT: Four matches without a win. A frustrating sequence of thin losses and hard-fought draws had chipped away at their early confidence. The squad was keen to rediscover the fire that had fuelled their opening victories, but standing in their way was the challenge of an unbeaten St Albans side. The need for a win instantly translated into dominant play for Norwich, who seized control from the whistle. Their passing was crisp, their movement fluid, and the pressure on the St Albans defence was immediate. The first clear chance arrived through a moment of brilliance: Tom Cooke, sharp in midfield, launched a perfectly weighted lofted pass into the D for Louis Preston. Preston brought it down and fired a powerful near-post shot, forcing the St Albans goalkeeper into a save. Minutes later, Max Wilson broke free on the left, unleashing a reverse stick hit that flashed across the goal face, narrowly eluding the outstretched sticks of the onrushing forwards. This intense pressure was backed up by Cam Cooke testing the keeper again with a clean strike, only to see it parried away. Then, the inevitable. St Albans flipped the script with a single, quick counter-attack, earning their first short corner seemingly out of nowhere. The initial attempt was defended well, but the aggressive visitors quickly earned two more. On the third attempt, the clinical execution arrived: a low, drilled flick beat the post-player and the keeper, silencing the home crowd. Before Norwich could regroup, St Albans landed a devastating second blow. A quick breakaway found the Norwich defence scrambling, leading to a desperate stick tackle just outside the D. Once again, the St Albans drag-flicker stepped up and delivered a powerful, accurate shot that hit the backboard. That was the last highlight of the first quarter, a 2-0 lead for the visitors. Norwich had owned the pitch, but St Albans owned the scoreboard. The second quarter began with Norwich maintaining their high-tempo attacking rhythm against the two-goal deficit. The visitors, now comfortable with their lead, managed the game astutely, turning the match into a more cagey affair. The only real threats came from penalty corners, one awarded to each team, but the respective goalkeepers proved equal to the challenge, ensuring the score stayed frozen at 2-0. As the half-time whistle loomed, Norwich's sheer pace and persistence finally paid dividends, cracking the St Albans armour in the final minute. Louis Preston delivered a penetrating ball for Jonty Black, who drew a swift foul. Showing brilliant awareness, Black immediately peeled away into the D while James Mackenzie took the free hit quickly. Mackenzie found Max Wilson at the top, who slammed a low, hard pass towards the back post. The delivery was inch-perfect, finding Black after his perfectly timed run. He met the ball with a decisive deflection, guiding it past the keeper and into the goal! That crucial goal was the final action of the half, sending Norwich into the break with an enormous boost of confidence. The half-time break did nothing to cool the intensity. Norwich emerged with vigour and immediately re-established their dominance in possession, though the St Albans defence proved stubborn. The breakthrough finally arrived through a set-piece with just minutes remaining in the quarter. A quick succession of attacks earned Norwich a crucial penalty corner. Elliot Hibell's low, powerful drag-flick was initially saved, but the rebound ballooned high into the air. Arriving with impeccable timing was Gabriel Marchant, who leaped high and guided the ball into the back of the net to tie the game. Before St Albans could even digest the equaliser, the devastating winner followed just three minutes later, born of pure pace. Louis Preston intercepted a loose pass and surged forward, launching a ball to halfway for Lawry Williams. The ensuing interplay was sublime, with Max Wilson and Ben Griffiths creating a massive hole in the retreating St Albans defence. Williams marauded into the D and, from a very tight angle, unleashed a fierce, blistering reverse stick strike that arrowed across the keeper and into the side-netting. The comeback was complete. After trailing 2-0, Norwich had scored three unanswered goals in a sensational turnaround. With a precious 3-2 lead, the final quarter was the ultimate test of Norwich's resolve. St Albans threw everything forward, but Norwich had built a defensive fortress. Centre-back performances from Tom Cooke and Harry Brown were commanding, and when St Albans did manage to break through, they found themselves facing an inspirational Simon Dolan in goal. With five minutes left, Norwich delivered the final, decisive blow. Winning a penalty corner after a smart attacking press, Elliot Hibell stepped up and delivered a signature, powerful drag-flick that soared with precision into the top left corner of the net. The keeper had no chance. The two-goal cushion completely deflated the St Albans challenge. The remaining minutes were managed expertly by Norwich, who played out the clock with control and maturity. The final whistle confirmed a spectacular 4-2 victory for Norwich.
