WOMENS 5TH XI - 08/10/2022 VS CARROW 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 5th XI DATE: 08/10/2022 FIXTURE: Womens 5th XI VS 08/10/2022 HEADLINE: Womens 5s narrowly miss out on a draw. LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST (NORTH) VENUE: Carrow- Langley RESULT: lost 1-0 REPORT: City turned up to Langley in good spirits ahead of the game with Carrow; though fielding only 12 and nursing a few poorly players. Despite this city played their hearts out conceding only one goal in the first half from a lucky ball that was pushed over the line from a close range battle. City didnt let this get them down, keeping up a strong attack for the rest of the half and then till the end of the game. There was great teamwork from all, a few close calls on short corners that we just weren't quite able to convert and generally a real passion shown by all, especially in the final minutes to try and draw equal. A close fought battle between the two sides and overall a great game for city, in which the score certainly didn't reflect the game we played at all. Player of the match went to a well deserved Sam Harvey for some excellent defending throughout the match!

FILLIES XI - 09/10/2022 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES U16 (H) TEAM: Fillies XI DATE: 09/10/2022 FIXTURE: Fillies XI VS 09/10/2022 HEADLINE: Injury withdrawals impact team LEAGUE: EH U16 CUP VENUE: TRF RESULT: NORWICH CITY U16 1 HARLESTON MAGPIES U16 12 REPORT: Playing Magpies was always going to be tough, but injuries to Grace Hanworth-Knights and Lucy Walton made the task more difficult. This was compounded midway through the first half when Alice Majoram fell ill leaving us with a bare 11. During the first quarter Magpies were dominant, but then City started to find their feet and mounted attacks of their own. City started the second half well and Magpies were indebted to their keeper that City remained scoreless. City finally got on the scoresheet from a lovely passing move sweetly finished by Chloe Holmes. With 15 minutes remaining City started to tire and Magpies took further advantage. The City girls deserve credit for their hard working performance and the play they displayed in the middle of the game. Poppy Scott was player of the match breaking up many attacks and breaking forward to enable City to mount attacks.

W (3-1) 09/10/2022 - M1 vs St Albans 1 (H / L) TAVERHAM GETS ITS FIRST TASTE OF NATIONAL LEAGUE HOCKEY! |

MENS 1ST XI - 09/10/2022 VS ST ALBANS 1 (H) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 09/10/2022 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 09/10/2022 HEADLINE: Taverham Gets Its First Taste of National League Hockey! LEAGUE: CONFERENCE MIDLANDS VENUE: Taverham Recreational Facility RESULT: 3-1 W REPORT: After 2 away fixtures to begin we had to wait until gameweek 3 for our first home fixture. What's another few weeks to wait after 32 years of the clubs existence and it was well worth the wait. Lots of excitement surrounding the debut of TRF in national league all day and a huge crowd that made the journey to witness it. Hugely appreciated by all the players and everyone else who has had any part (big or small) to play in the rise to national league. And with the crowd slowly building the game got underway with a tight first quarter with both sides trading short corners and plenty chances but both Alastair Cooke and the St Albans keeper were equal to everything put in front of them. We could tell early on we had the pace advantage over their defenders but couldn't make it pay. Q1: 0-0. Soon after the break Josh Baker found his way round the back and into the D and the ball was cleared out to Tom Cooke who then passed it back in to Pete Morgan to deflect in, Norwich had taken control of the close affair. This was 24 years since Pete's last national league goal back when he was playing for Local rivals Harleston Magpies. St Albans continued to threaten with 2 counter attacks that ended in 1-on-1s with Alastair Cooke but thankfully he saved both and maintained our 1 goal lead. HT: 1-0. As the second half progressed we started to show more and more dominace and St Albans spent less time in our half. After a Chris Wardale turnover he found Cam Cooke who rocketed the ball narrowly over. We continued to create chances but speculative hits in were not making them count. As time ran out In the 3rd quarter we won a short corner and after a Cam Cooke drag was parried out to Josh Baker he hammered the ball back towards goal and it found its way in the bottom left corner. His maiden national league goal in only his second start and in front of a large Long Sutton Hockey Club contingent that had made the journey. Q3: 2-0. To begin the 4th quarter St Albans got caught questioning the umpire after they thought the ball had gone out of play, meanwhile Ben Chapman ran in behind and took down an aerial before rounding the keeper and slapping into an empty net for a 3 goal lead. This injected some life into St Albans and forced Alastair Cooke to make 2 more saves before they won a pair of short corners. The 2nd of which their captain squeezed in and they had got on the Scoreboard. FT: 3-1. A fantastic day for the club topped off with a fantastic display from the team. Well earned 3 points and the team starting to show they can upset some teams that have been a continued presence in national league!

L (0-1) 08/10/2022 - M3 vs Norwich Dragons 2 (H / L) SUNSHINE FRUSTRATION |

MENS 3RD XI - 08/10/2022 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 2 (H) TEAM: Mens 3rd XI DATE: 08/10/2022 FIXTURE: Mens 3rd XI VS 08/10/2022 HEADLINE: Sunshine frustration LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE:Taverham RESULT: Norwich City M3s 0-1 Dragons M2s REPORT: City started their latest league encounter in fine style with Adam Sayer, Harry Ingham and George Brine combining beautifully to turn defensive positions into dynamic attacking opportunities. Dan Jeffers and Andrew both coming close inside the first 20 minutes. Dragons’ counterattacks were by and large dealt with by Jim Pallister, who yet again had an excellent game, Tom Franks, City’s keeper who is in the form of his life, and the defensive quartet of Sayer, Ben Hawes, Sam Hancock and the ever young Simon Black. As the half wore on both sides created half chances but lacked a clinical edge to break the deadlock. As the second half progressed City appeared to edge the balance of play with Cameron Hansell and Alvin Muthi making telling contributions. Given the secure nature of both defences and the absence of clear cut chances it was no surprise that the deadlock was broken by a somewhat scruffy if well struck goal. An innocuous if bouncing ball bobbled past two defenders and was smashed through Franks from close range - nothing the keeper could have done to prevent the goal. Whilst City pressed for the equaliser Dragons defence and energetic midfield held firm City’s player of the match was Simon Black

MENS 4TH XI - 08/10/2022 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 3 (A) TEAM: Mens 4th XI DATE: 08/10/2022 FIXTURE: Mens 4th XI VS 08/10/2022 HEADLINE: 3 points slipped through our fingers LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 3 NORTH EAST VENUE: The Den RESULT: 2-3 Loss REPORT: City travelled to The Den with recent memories for their last trip pre-season. A 4-0 was still fresh in the minds of City who started this league game well, moving the ball around the pitch and causing their hosts many problems. City took the lead mid-way through the first half as a pass from Paul Kassulke found Paul Gallop who deflected in under the keeper to make it 1-0. City won several Penalty Corners and finally converted through Geoff Spencer to make it 2-0 at half time. In the 2nd half Dragons upped their intensity and made City work hard to maintain their lead. Due to an injury City only had 11 and tired midway through the 2nd half the 14-man squad of Dragons capitalized on a tiring City team and scored 3 quick goals. City had their chances but fell short to Dragons 3s. Player of the Match went to Kieran Shapcott.
