The last game before Christmas; festive spirit was in the air, Against struggling Christchurch, dreams raced of goals and flare. We followed victory from the Men with goals from coach Tapin, Moral was high at Norwich city, time for our Christmas win. Shirts on, gum shields in, socks pulled up with care, Visualising those goals that soon would be there. We pushed back and didn't conceded in the first 4 minutes, Good start, Leanne’s team talk obviously a hit. Umpire Lingy, the Grinch today, was dressed all in green, Got out his cards and sent Christchurch off for being mean. We dominated the first half, delightful passes galore, Shots, saves and misses, but we just couldn’t score. Until Lizzy snuck forward, quiet as a mouse, Ball through from Millie, GOOAALL, down came the house. After that we got better, and better once again Rosie burst into the D and jabbed the ball in. I kicked the ball lots, there’s a surprise, An airshot in front of goal…or was it a disguise? Then came a short corner, aha we’d rehearsed these, Back to Rosie the injector, another goal if you please. And if something works, why not try it again, Same routine, same result, practice not in vane. As the evening drew in on our last December game, Thoughts can turn to turkey and a log fire flame. A solid half of the season, promotion not out of sight Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

MENS 1ST XI - 07/12/2019 VS CHELMSFORD 1 (H) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 07/12/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 07/12/2019 HEADLINE: Emphatic Victory For City LEAGUE: EAST PREMIER DIVISION A VENUE: RESULT: REPORT: Norwich city Men’s 1s welcomed Chelmsford HC to the fortress wanting to make it three wins on the bounce and with JC on board for a pre-match pep talk the team looked looked full of energy heading into the match. It was clear from he start Chelmsford were going to press high allowing the ball to be played to the half back’s and then closing the ball down quickly. Thankfully the hard work put in at training meant it was second nature for city’s screens to find the space between Chelmford's defensive lines, relieving pressure from city’s defense. With the ball being moved on quickly from the screens out to the wingers city soon found themselves in the attacking 3rd putting Chelmsford under of pressure. City’s own press soon paid off with Cameron Cooke, currently in a rich vein of form, turning the ball over from a stray pass and then driving into the D, switching the ball onto his reverse and finishing with a powerful shot to the top corner. Chelmsford tried to up the tempo playing on the break only for city’s defense to hold strong wining their one on one battles and midfield working back to further protect a clean sheet. With a little bit of luck city ended the half 2-0 up with a clearance off the line from Rich Green and a neat tight angled finish from Chris Wardale, rising up the top scorers table. The message at half time was a simple one, keep working for each other, keep finding the space between Chelmsford lines and force the ball to where we want it. With Chelmsford tiring, city kept up the pressure, pressing high on their defense, creating an overload and as a result lead to further goals from city's forwards. City controlled the rest of the half with only a couple of scares managing to hold onto the clean sheet and scoring some lovely team goals. the game finished 6-0.
