WOMENS 3RD XI - 07/02/2026 VS IPSWICH-EAST SUFFOLK 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 3rd XI DATE: 07/02/2026 FIXTURE: Womens 3rd XI VS 07/02/2026 HEADLINE: Triumphant at last! LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham RESULT: 2-1 win for NCHC Womens 3s REPORT: NCHC Womens 3s went into the weekend buzzing with excitement for their clash against mid-table IES, a side who had edged them out 1–0 earlier in the season. Sitting second from bottom, City knew exactly what was at stake – with nothing to lose and everything to gain, only a win would do. The squad was bolstered by the welcome return of Katie in defence and Lottie back in midfield, adding steel and composure throughout the spine of the team. And then there was the secret weapon: Meg, just 13 years old, making her debut for the 3s and ready to make an impact. City started strongly, though perhaps with a few nerves showing. But it was City who struck first. Helen slotted a reverse-stick shot under the keeper and into the goal. City were ahead – and for the first time in a long time, they had something precious to protect. When the opportunity came to extend the lead, City couldn’t quite capitalise, and IES made them pay. A slick, well-drilled short corner routine brought the visitors level, sending the teams into half time at 1–1. The second half belonged to City. They came out fighting, pressing hard and attacking with real intent. Lucy’s electric pace down the right wing caused constant problems, while Chloe’s crunching tackles and pinpoint passing kept City on the front foot and wave after wave of attacks rolling forward. At the back, City were immense. Jo kept a crucial clean sheet in the second half, expertly marshalled by Katie, Jess, Longy and Rosie, who made playing out from the back – and switching the ball across the pitch – look effortless. As the clock ticked down, it seemed City might have to settle for a draw despite their dominance. But this team had other ideas. With just minutes to go, debutant Meg picked up the ball at the top of the D and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the left-hand corner of the goal. In true 3s fashion, the celebrations that followed could only be described as World Cup-worthy. The final whistle confirmed a huge 2–1 victory. City climb up to 8th in the league, out of the relegation zone – and perhaps most importantly, reminded themselves just how good it feels to win.

MENS 1ST XI - 07/02/2026 VS CITY OF PETERBOROUGH (H) TEAM: Mens 1st XI DATE: 07/02/2026 FIXTURE: Mens 1st XI VS 07/02/2026 HEADLINE: Old foes meet once again. History suggests goals won't be in short supply. LEAGUE: CONFERENCE MIDLANDS VENUE: TRF RESULT: 3-3 D REPORT: The early-season pace-setters had both faded down the table as the season progressed. However, as both sides prepared for this weekend's collision, it was clear that either team has the potential to challenge the top of the table on their day. Norwich City hosted a resilient Peterborough side; while both teams have dismantled defenses throughout the season, they also unfortunately sit among the league's poorest defensive records. This rivalry is defined by end-to-end hockey and a gluttony of goals. With both sides favoring an aggressive high press, the stage was set for a frantic encounter where clinical finishing would be the ultimate decider. The game lived up to its high-scoring reputation. Ben Griffiths set the standard within the first five minutes. Harry Brown intercepted the ball at the halfway line, dropped it to Nic Urquhart-Pearce, and led a run into the 23-yard line. Brown received the ball back and found Cam Cooke at the top of the D, who slipped an underhand pass to an unmarked Griffiths for an expert reverse-stick shot into the top-left corner. Norwich quickly followed up with a "1-2 combo" as Louis Preston converted a penalty corner won by Nic Urquhart-Pearce. The ball was worked around the D from Cam Cooke at the top to Tom Cooke on the left, and finally to Preston at the baseline, who squeesed it into the near post under the Peterborough keeper. While the end-to-end battle continued, neither side truly troubled the net again until just before halftime. Cam Cooke added to his tally for the season via another penalty corner; his initial drag-flick hit the left post, but he reacted quickest to the rebound, striking a half-volley into the middle of the net to secure a 3-0 halftime lead. Peterborough emerged for the second half as the stronger side, immediately pinning Norwich under immense pressure. After an initial penalty corner save, Peterborough found the breakthrough in open play when a hit-in bounced around the D; they regained possession in space and fired a shot into the near post. With the score at 3-1, the pressure intensified, and Norwich struggled to exit their own half. Peterborough delivered a "1-2 punch" of their own, scoring twice in quick succession. First with a 1-2 around the final defender and flick into the net, followed by a clever back-post overhead deflection to level the game. The fourth quarter was a balanced, end-to-end affair. Both teams saw goals disallowed: Norwich after a whistle for a penalty corner was blown prematurely, denying an advantage, and Peterborough in similar fashion shortly after. Despite the frantic pace, neither side could find a winner. The game finished 3-3. While Norwich will rue missed chances in the second quarter that could have put the game out of reach, they can take some comfort in halting Peterborough’s momentum after a dominant third-quarter display
