W (5-1) 05/12/2020 - W1 vs Sudbury 1 (H / F) A GAME OF TWO HALVES... |
---|
WOMENS 1ST XI - 05/12/2020 VS SUDBURY 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: A game of two halves... LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 1 NORTH VENUE: Home RESULT: 5-1 REPORT: After 4 weeks off and one training session we started off quite slow...Early on in the game we had all the possession and after not coming out of their half one break of play and a quick goal scored by the oppo. This was to no surprise as we had a slight shift in formation as some of the back line weren't there. Flic and Ella stepped into the big shoes of Suze and got grips with it and the back four were very strong. We were having loads of shots at the goal but some slipping just wide by the forwards, Oli and Stacey were skilling most of the back line and providing some great chances and we knew a goal had to be soon. But after a very agile goaley led to half time being 1-0 down. After Pies gave us a lovely half time talk saying the score doesn't reflect our play, the 4 weeks off had been shaken off and we were on fire. After Oli slotted the first and second goal in there was no stopping City. Shortly followed after Flic got a bit jealous of Oli so Flic by name flick by nature finished off a flick to make it 3-1. Then our short corners after no practice were unstoppable with a goal with some Stacey special once or twice led to a goal from Krystal. To finish the game we tactically... gave away a short corner and after the defensive got the ball out we went up the left side of the pitch and did a wonderful goal just for pies. Final score 5-1 POTM: Ella Gill

L (3-4) 05/12/2020 - W2 vs Harleston Magpies 4 (A / L) 1ST GAME AFTER LOCKDOWN 2.0 |

WOMENS 2ND XI - 05/12/2020 VS HARLESTON MAGPIES 4 (A) TEAM: Womens 2nd XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 2nd XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: 1st Game After Lockdown 2.0 LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 2 NORTH EAST VENUE: Harleston RESULT: 4-3 Loss We started off the game very strong, and all of us were very excited to be back after the break. We had a lot of possession in the first half leading to two amazing goals from Niamh Campbell. However, the opposition were awarded three short corners in a row, and unfortunately resulted in a goal. Which left us at 2:1 for half time. After half time we set off strong again, with amazing defensive performances from Hannah Nunn and Leigh-Ann Worrall, however the opposition were able to capitalise on us and score two more goals bringing us to 2:3. With 5 minutes to go the womens worked incredibly hard to score another super goal from Rosie Humphrey. However, this was followed by an opposing goal leading to the final score of 4:3. It was very unfortunate to come away with a loss after all the womens had worked very hard in the game, but it was really great to see everyone playing hockey again! POTM: Milly Hyatt

L (1-3) 05/12/2020 - W5 vs Pelicans 2 (A / L) WE PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT! |

WOMENS 5TH XI - 05/12/2020 VS PELICANS 2 (A) TEAM: Womens 5th XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 5th XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: We put up a good fight! LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 1 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Lynnsport RESULT: 3-1 Loss REPORT: Norwich City Womens 5’s vs Pelicans womens 2’s. We were lucky with the weather for the game, perfect hockey weather. Both teams arrived positive and raring to play, after the break from match play due to lockdown. The first half was strong for both teams, Pelicans took the lead scoring their first goal, shortly followed by NCHC’s goal, hit from the top of the D by Matilds Hill after a strong injection by Olivia Hill, in a successful attacking short corner. City continued strongly keeping persistent possession of the ball, with brilliant midfield and forward play from Uma Patel, Maria Marsh, Sophie Bush, Amy Hinchliffe, Jane Loughridge, Caroline Illing, Susan Matthews, Annette Peters and Maddie Smith. Aswell as awesome goal keeping from Zara Hunter. However Pelicans scored a second sneaky goal at a weak point for NCHC. Despite brilliant defence for NCHC from Olivia Hill, Allison McLellan and Emma Guyton, Pelicans went on to score their 3rd goal. This didn’t stop the NCHC womens staying positive, cheery and pushing hard in the last few minutes. It was a thoroughly enjoyed game all round. Well played everybody.

W (5-1) 05/12/2020 - W6 vs Norwich Dragons 7 (A / L) COME BACK WIN |
---|
WOMENS 6TH XI - 05/12/2020 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 7 (A) TEAM: Womens 6th XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Womens 6th XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: Come Back Win LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 2 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Dragons Den RESULT: 5 - 1 to City 6s REPORT: As can be seen in the score line, City had a great game this week. The best part though, is that we had such a range of scorers and assists showing how the whole team got involved in every element of the game. After the long break from lockdown 2.0 City 6's came back stronger than ever with our best score difference this season. Implementing a subbing system that allowed us to focus on attack, mid and defense separately we managed to keep synchronicity throughout and each sub section communicated amazingly to get a great flow of play and get those transitions perfected. With no subs in defense this week we were hard pushed fitness wise but communicated the whole time, watching our players and driving up with support. There were a few hairy moments for our goalie Jo Di-Corpo where she was one-on-one but handled it like a pro keeping Dragons goals to just one. Mid field handled the sudden start of games again excellently, with them all running 6.5km or more (and from Rose Byrne's tracker showing she was literally everywhere on the pitch). Sofia Hancy was our POTM and justly so, coming in to defend and being pivotal in getting the ball up, as well as getting her first goal of the season with a self drive from the top of the D. Attack have been working hard in training to be extra flexible in their positions and it really showed today. They drew out defenders, swapped around and really made Dragons work to keep up. The goals this week were brilliant, starting with Julia Marchant who was assisted by Ellis Couzins, the second from Liz Hollis who took advantage of the short corner we were given, the third the wonderful run by Sofia Hancy, the fourth from Liz Hollis again, assisted by Esme Abbott and lastly a run from Emily Winter. Cracking stuff womens, keep it up!

W (4-0) 05/12/2020 - LD vs Dereham (A / L) A CHILLY EVENING BUT A GREAT RESULT |
---|
WOMENS DEVELOPMENT XI - 05/12/2020 VS DEREHAM (A) TEAM: Womens Development XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Womens Development XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: A chilly evening but a great result LEAGUE: NORFOLK DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Dereham RESULT:4:0 REPORT: It was a rather depleted side facing Dereham today as unfortunately Covid had struck in the last few hours & isolated a whole cohort of girls from the same school! We are hoping they will all be back very soon. Still, unperturbed & raring to go, 10 girls & our adult Anna Horsley( drafted in at very short notice- many thanks ) were keen to end the run of postponed matches due to lockdown & get out there & play. City started strongly in the first quarter with some fantastic runs down the R wing from Lottie Hood & Susannah Hamilton backed up by Amelie Horsley. There was lovely movement of the ball & great crosses from Lottie Hood into the D but the City girls couldn't quite find the finish they needed. However this all changed in the 2nd quarter with some fantastic passing between captain Evie Brockington & POTM Hollie Blackham which finally resulted in a cross from Evie that was smashed in by Hollie . This was shortly followed by some great passing in the middle of the field which eventually found Lottie Hood on the R who did a perfect cross into the D which was knocked in by Katie Smith. City then had a run of short corners & one of these saw a great injection by Amelie Horsley to Evie Brockington who crossed it to Hollie Blackham who struck it hard at the goal for number 3. The play then moved to the other end of the pitch & Dereham tested City's defence but Isabelle Lloyd & Ellice Chen ( in her debut match) held fast & strong & quickly shut down the threat. A couple of Dereham attacks did make it as far as the D but Jess Westbury in goal did some great saves to keep a clean sheet up to half time. The 3rd quarter saw City making some excellent moves & really gelling as a team. There was some lovely play between Olivia Kazimierczak & Evie Brockington & this resulted in a fantastic strike on goal by Evie which made number 4. The 4th quarter was uneventful in the fact there were no goals but again saw the girls deftly moving the ball around, using both wings & also passing the ball back & changing direction when in trouble. Well played everyone! Well done Hollie Blackham for her very well deserved POTM but also a mention to Evie Brockington who also had a large proportion of the votes.

MENS 6TH XI - 05/12/2020 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 4 (A) TEAM: Mens 6th XI DATE: 05/12/2020 FIXTURE: Mens 6th XI VS 05/12/2020 HEADLINE: Tough game LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 5 NORTH EAST VENUE:Culford RESULT: lost 0-4 REPORT: we started quite well against Bury but went behind by 2 goals when Bury forwards were left unmarked at the top of the D . In the second half we played better and kept Bury at bay with some organised defending and good goal keeping by Peter Smith who was man of the match . Unfortunately we let in a third goal towards the end of the game.
