---|
MENS 6TH XI - 12/01/2019 VS BURY ST EDMUNDS 4 (H) TEAM: Mens 6th XI DATE: 12/01/2019 FIXTURE: Mens 6th XI VS 12/01/2019 HEADLINE: We managed to win a game LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 5 NORTH EAST VENUE:Taverham RESULT:won. 3-2 REPORT: We started the second half of the league season with our first league win of the season. With a few fresh faces in the team and Ady Marr asking to play we had a reasonable team , unfortunately Bury could only bring 10 players. This did not seem to make any difference at the start of the game as Bury soon scored their first goal . We then got ourselves organised and started to play some good hockey. Our first goal soon came from a typical Ady Marr run after more pressure Lee Allsop then put us 2-1 up at halftime.. in the second the game was fairly even until Bury had a couple of players sent off for a short time, this lead to us getting a short corner which Simon Deakin scored from. Some sloppy defending right at the end of game allowed Bury this score their second goal . Man of the match was Ady Marr for creating some good moves and allowing us to cause Bury some defensive problems

In the first half we spent most of the time parked in the Nomads half which resulted in a lot of attempts but no goals came . We really played well as a unit moving the ball about in short passes. In the second half we pushed forward to try and score which opened up the defence and resulted in Nomads scoring twice before we scored . It was a game of missed opportunities and we came up against a good Nomads keeper

MENS 6TH XI - 03/11/2018 VS DEREHAM 3 (A) TEAM: Mens 6th XI DATE: 03/11/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 6th XI VS 03/11/2018 HEADLINE: Another tough game LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 5 NORTH EAST VENUE: Dereham RESULT:lost 5-0 REPORT: We arrived at Dereham with no keeper so Derek Dack agreed to put on the keepers kit. We were soon on the back foot against a strong Dereham side . After some brave goal keeping Derek Dack had to retire with a twisted ankle ,so we finished the first half with a kicking back and we were 3-0 down and further injuries to John Grange and Simon Deakin. At half time Simon Deakin agreed to put on the keepers kit. The second half was a more even half and there was some good goal keeping from Simon Deakin and some good defending which kept Dereham at bay until the last few minutes when they scored two more goals. There were some good performances from many of the players but man of the was Dominic Copping .

MENS 6TH XI - 13/10/2018 VS I-ES 5 (H) TEAM: Mens 6th XI DATE: 13/10/2018 FIXTURE: Mens 6th XI VS 13/10/2018 HEADLINE: Well deserved draw LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 5 NORTH EAST VENUE: Taverham RESULT:drew 2-2 REPORT:we had a large squad for this game, Nigel worked out a formation that would give everyone fair pitch time. The first half was a very even one and at halftime it was 0-0 , the team played with far more purpose than the last couple of weeks. In the second half Simon scored an excellent reverse stick goal unfortunately we did hang onto the lead for too long as IES scored from a short corner and then took the lead after fairly poor defending. We did not give up and in the last seconds of the game we got a short corner which lead to Nick converting to make it a very deserved draw . Nick was nominated for man of the for his excellent goal and save off the line earlier in the game. Thanks to Grocer for offering to play in goal for us . We had some very good comments from IES after the game which gives us encouragement for the rest of the season. Unfortunately we still prop the league up .

Our biggest problem is giving the ball away to the opposition and trying to play the long game. At half time we had a reorganisation and a much improved game resulting our first goal in this league scored by Woody . Max had a good game in goal again and we had a really good performance from Luke in the second half and he was given the man of the match award for this week.
