LADIES 7TH XI - 18/03/2017 VS HORNETS (A) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 18/03/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 18/03/2017 HEADLINE: A good way to end the season - never mind the loss LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Hobart High School, Loddon RESULT: 1-3 REPORT: The Womens 7s ended their season with a strong showing against the hard hitting Hornets, who are second in the league, keeping the score to a respectable 1-3. Hornets started strongly moving up the pitch quickly with some sharp passing. A number of chances were repelled but City stayed in the game with some strong defending on her debut from Millie Clarke. A few forward forays came to nothing for City. In the second half City redoubled their efforts and made more headway winning several short corners from the tireless running of Charlotte Girling and Amy Hinchcliffe. City finally took advantage of one such opportunity with Louisa Sizeland deflecting in Millie Clarke's strike. For this, and her excellent defending, Millie was the clear winner of Player of the Match. Despite the loss City enjoyed the game and can look back with pride at the progress, both individual and collective, that has been made this season.

LADIES 7TH XI - 11/03/2017 VS LODDON 2 (H) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 11/03/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 11/03/2017 HEADLINE: A loss that should have been a win LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: TRF RESULT: 0-1 REPORT: The Womens 7s had 95% of the possession in this game but lost with a goal 2 minutes from time. City played well with some crisp passing building on excellent defensive work. Several opportunities to score were generated but none were converted and this came back to haunt City in the latter stages of the second half when a resilient Loddon made the best of one of their rare forays up the pitch, broke through the defence and scored. With only two minutes to play a game that City should have won was lost. Despite the disappointment of the loss some positives can be taken from some excellent performances. As in previous weeks several players received votes for POTM: Jan, Charlotte, Amy, Sarah S and Helen but the winner was Sarah Bird for her great work at half back.

A dynamic performance secured Player of the Match for Sarah Smith with an honourable mention to Amy Hinchliffe who showed strong running and determination on the right wing despite picking up a couple of knocks. Although City couldn't match Hornets clinical finishing, the duck was broken through Nicky Warde-Aldam, her first goal of the season and on this evidence there may be more to come.

The City team, drawn mostly from recent 'Back to Hockey' recruits, had the better of the first half with strong running and some neat play resulting in goals from Charlotte Girling and Rose Byrne. UEA came back strongly in the second half scoring an early goal and going on to score 3 more. City, driven on by a Player of the Match performance from Katy Walker and the indefatigable Charlotte Girling, went close on a couple of occasions but could not find the net. Although the result was negative this was City's best result of the season and the improved performance will build confidence for future games.

---|
LADIES 7TH XI - 08/10/2016 VS BROADLAND 3 (A) TEAM: Womens 7th XI DATE: 08/10/2016 FIXTURE: Womens 7th XI VS 08/10/2016 HEADLINE: Third times a charm for City 7s LEAGUE: NORFOLK LEAGUE DIVISION 3 LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE: Langley School Carrow 2 v City Womens 7s RESULT: 0-1 REPORT: The Womens 7s won their third game in a row to move third from bottom of the table with a 1-0 win over Carrow 2. City had the majority of possession but struggled to capitalise despite strong running from Charlotte Girling and Amy Hinchliffe. The passing wasn't quite as crisp as the previous game but City still moved the ball well and limited Carrow to only an occasional foray up the pitch. One such move required a fantastic reverse stick clearance from Jan Kennard. City continued to press in the second half but Carrow upped their game and had several short corner opportunities, all of which were rebuffed. City then regained the upper hand and got a deserved winner when Katy Walker was on target. From that moment on City kept the pressure on and dominted possession. As in previous weeks the vote for Player of the Match was split several ways but the winner was Katy Walker for a strong all round performance and the crucial goal.

City lost the reverse fixture 6-1 earlier in the season so todays win is an indication of the improvement made. A further positive sign is the number of players receiving nominations for player of the match although Charlotte Girling secured the 'prize' for another excellent display at centre half. Katy Walker was not far behind for her tireless work in the forward line. Congratulations too to Imogen Langley on an impressive debut. City had the majority of possession in the first half with several solid spells of passing. Dragons came back strongly at the start of the first half but the 7s defence and midfield worked well to keep them at bay and City were soon back on top and pressing hard on goal. So onwards and upwards for the 7s.
