City returned home to face Premier B side Spalding. City this week welcomed Harry Brown, Sam Bingham, Gabriel Marchant and Chris Wardale with skipper Louis Preston still away on honeymoon. Spalding started stronger and created the first chance within the first two minutes with Ben Nkrumah saving twice in the City goal. This was Spalding's best spell in the game as City were on the back foot in the first 10 minutes. However it was City's first penalty corner that was the games first goal as Cameron Cooke powered home on the second attempt after his initial flick was saved. Into the second quarter and City started to dominate keeping possession more and counter attacking well. City's second goal came from their second penalty corner with Tom Cooke setting up Gabriel Marchant with a deflected finish. City added a third and fourth goal both finished well by Cameron Cooke, with the fourth being an exceptional team goal in what was a dominate quarter for City. City's third penalty corner added a fifth goal with Harry Cresswell initial deflection stopped by a foot on the line, with Chris Wardale converting the penalty stroke. Just before the end of the third quarter Pete Morgan finished of another team move converting Cameron Cooke's cross at the far post. Into the final quarter and the team kept working extremely hard to keep the ball and attack the Spalding D, City finished the scoring with Harry Cresswell finishing well at the far post. City nearly had 8 with Cresswell slightly off target within the final two minutes which would of capped of an excellent performance for the home side. Lots of positives but things still to work on for City as they head to PLUM next weekend. POTM: Jonty Black
