However, despite repeated attacks on goal, City struggled to find the net in the early stages of the match – held off mostly by a strong performance from Evergreen’s goalkeeper. But the attacking play eventually paid off when the first City goal was scored by Ellie Hobden who made an impressive slap into the net from a short corner slip. An amazing goal-line save by Ella Kassulke meant that City went into the break one nil up. Norwich started the second half determined to score more goals so that the final scoreline would reflect how dominant they were in the match. The second half brought three more goals for City. Two skilful shots from Caroline Illing that found the net and the fourth a shot in the top of the net by Ella Sharrock. Final score 4 – 0 Match report by Kate Houldey

LADIES 4TH XI - 24/02/2018 VS DEREHAM 3 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 24/02/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 24/02/2018 HEADLINE: Honours shared in evenly matched game LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:TRF RESULT:2-2 REPORT: On Saturday the Norwich City Womens 4’s played Dereham Womens 3. The team played well with the defenders making some fantastic tackles as well as using the transfer effectively. The inners worked hard to move the ball up the pitch, working back tirelessly when the Dereham side counter attacked, even when we only had one sub. The forwards also made good runs, using the wings and strings of passes to bring the ball up the pitch. The score was 2-2 and the two goal scorers were Ellie and Emma. Match Report kindly provided by well deserved POTM, Annabel Pounder.

LADIES 4TH XI - 03/02/2018 VS LODDON 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 03/02/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 03/02/2018 HEADLINE: Against all the odds ............ LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Hobart High School, Loddon RESULT:0-2 (Win) REPORT: The odds were not exactly stacked in the Womens 4’s favour with two late call offs and a few players carrying injuries from the previous week. It was, however, lovely to see the return of Alex Le Mesurier who got quite exited about her return and even enjoyed the warm up! The brief was to dig deep and play our wide game with the inners providing that wonderful link play. The Womens 4’s did not disappoint and were indeed unlucky to finish the first half without scoring after several goal mouth scrambles were saved by a very talented Loddon Keeper. The Womens 4’s needed to be patient and continue the pressure and were duly rewarded when Amelia Ellis-Baumber sent a wonderfully weighted ball into the ‘D’ which Heather Tasker neatly slotted home to give the away team the much deserved lead. Unfortunately, several attacking short corners came and went without conversion. Patience once again required and another short corner awarded to the Womens 4’s was successfully converted with Mrs T slipping to Alex Le Mesurier who confidently slapped the ball home. Another great result and a very rewarding team performance from the Womens 4’s. We did dig deep and were the worthy victors. Well deserved, POTM this week awarded to Charlotte Baxter

D (2-2) 27/01/2018 - W4 vs Broadland 1 (A / L) DOUBLE CELEBRATIONS FOR LADIES 4'S |

LADIES 4TH XI - 27/01/2018 VS BROADLAND 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 27/01/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 27/01/2018 HEADLINE: Double celebrations for Womens 4's LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:TRF RESULT:2-2 REPORT: Yet another frosty start to a Saturday morning and after early pitch inspections deemed the H20 pitch playable the Womens 4’s took full advantage of their early start against second in the table Broadland Womens 1’s. A very comprehensive warm up on the pitch ensued and we were indeed lucky to play at the driest part of the day. The game started with pace and after a few near misses at goal, the Womens 4’s capitalised when an attempt in the ‘D’ was thwarted, the ball eventually landed at the feet of Charlotte Gundry who ensured the ball met the back board to secure the lead for the away team. Broadland Womens fought back and managed to equalise leading both teams into a draw at half time. The half time team talk from Coach Ali Wardale, gave the Womens 4’s all the encouragement they needed going into the second half. Although Broadland Womens took the initial lead this did not deter a vey determined Womens 4’s who’s belief did not falter and much to the relief of the City’s cohort who then welcomed Annabel Pounder’s equaliser with great enthusiasm. Fantastic all round team performance from the Womens 4’s, teamed with great Coaching, Umpiring and sporting opposition. Twins, Amelia & Lydia’s 18th Birthday celebrations were then enjoyed by all following this memorable game! Well deserved POTM awarded to Rosy Valentine.

LADIES 4TH XI - 20/01/2018 VS UEA 2 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 20/01/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 20/01/2018 HEADLINE: Well fought win for Womens 4's LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:UEA Sportspark RESULT:2-0 (win) REPORT: A wet and miserable day and a slow start with not much action saw the end of the first half 0-0. After a good talking to at half time, Norwich knew exactly what had to be done, quick passes & using their width and it wasn’t long before Heather made a drive into the ‘d’ and a quick short pass to Ellie to finish it. With the enthusiasm created from the first goal, we kept on fighting with a fast bouncy ball from Ellie into Hannah where she knocked it straight into the back of the net. We carried on strong with Lydia’s 16 hit out being taken as an ariel to Charlotte which impressed us all creating the space past a good press from UEA. We dug deep and deserved the win, well played to everyone. Match Report kindly provided by POTM, Ellie Hobden

LADIES 4TH XI - 13/01/2018 VS LOWESTOFT RAILWAY 1 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 13/01/2018 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 13/01/2018 HEADLINE: Dazzling New Year's start for Womens 4's LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:TRF RESULT:3-1 (Win) REPORT: We started strong and made some good attacking moves and kept possession of the ball. We scored our first goal from a straight strike from a short corner by Amelia. We continued to stay in control of the game and made some good transfers round the back. We were then awarded another short corner where Amelia scored from a deflection off the keeper. After half time Lowestoft came back in the game with a goal. Despite this we continued to work hard and Grace made an excellent run, beating a defender and the goalkeeper to score a solo goal. We had a strong team performance today and the result reflected this. Thanks must go to Hannah for stepping up to play in goal for us at the last minute and to Bev for coming up to support us today (again at very short notice). Match Report kindly provided by a well deserved POTM Amelia Ellis-Baumber

We kept our form and used a strong press which put Evergreeen’s under lots of pressure. We had a strong defence which stopped the long hard through balls, rebounding back to a fast paced attacking mid/forward. By the end of the first half we were 2-0 up with goals from Ellie Hobden and Caroline Illing. Going into the second half we still had our energy up and pushed through to allow us another goal from Amelia Ellis-Baumber and then a great save from Anna Linsmith where she was one-on-one with a player and saved the goal. When the last whistle was blown we were 4-0 up thanks to Caroline Illing for a second great goal. Fantastic all round team performance and well deserved win. Player of the match : Ellie Hobden

LADIES 4TH XI - 11/11/2017 VS NORWICH DRAGONS 5 (H) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 11/11/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 11/11/2017 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:TRF RESULT:2-0 REPORT: After a strong start by City against Dragons 5s, the team dominated all the play in the attacking half, with the first goal just 15 mins in, a straight strike at goal by Amelia Ellis-Baumber who smoothly placed the ball past the keeper. We continued to work hard, determined to get another goal and after several short corners injected by Caroline Illing, Sue Tomlinson managed to put a goal away with a great strike at the top of the D. As the second half approached, we continued to work fantastically as a team, with our defence Emma Richardson and Lydia Ellis-Baumber remaining strong against a solid Dragons side and goalkeeper Summer Haylock who made some fantastic saves. However, we still had plenty of chances and with some brilliant runs from Ella Sharrock, Cheryl Brown and Rosie Osbourne, City tested Dragons goalkeeper continuously right until the final whistle. City’s final score was 2-0. A great team performance from everyone and a well-deserved 3 points. Match Report kindly provided by well deserved POTM and debutante Lucy McNarry.

LADIES 4TH XI - 04/11/2017 VS DEREHAM 3 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 04/11/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 04/11/2017 HEADLINE: Spirited City display LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:Dereham HC RESULT:1-3 REPORT: Dereham 3’s looked strong straight from the off. We got taken by surprise with an early goal to Dereham and soon after Dereham scored again but we then started working together as a team and pulled together a lovely string of passes which lead to a goal by Annabel Pounder. We then held our form for the remainder of the first half with strong defence from city by keeping Dereham out of the D. After a very positive half time team talk from Cheryl, city started the second half strong. Most of the play was in city’s attacking with lots of short corners being given in our favour. Unfortunately, Dereham defences were too strong and denied city a further goal. City stayed strong till the end and did well to hold the goals to 3-1 with some amazing saves from Keeper, Emily Waldron. Match Report kindly provided by well deserved POTM Emma Richardson.

Attacking play from the off saw some confident passing from the forwards. A run down the right wing and a cross into the box from Holly saw Amelia Ellis-Baumber get her first goal of the game! 1-0 City. A great City debut for Kathy who slotted in well with the defence. Reliable play from Rosie and solid teamwork in the middle, allowed the forwards time to try a range of options. A strong fight from UEA gave City work to do. Despite the attacks from UEA, City worked the ball back up the pitch. A second goal for Amelia and a goal from Hannah made it 3-0 at half time. At half time city reviewed their shape and discussed the importance of all players getting back to mark and remembering the effectiveness of the wide game. The H20 pitch certainly gave City the edge today and a bouncing ball in the D enabled Holly to hit a fourth goal Home. A left slip from a short corner saw Amelia achieve a hat trick with her third goal of the game! 5-0 to City. Annabel worked tirelessly upfront and was rewarded with her own goal to make the final score 6-0. Special thanks to Emily and Kirstin for helping the 4’s out and commiserations to Heather who was injured early on, with a nasty blow to the hand. Match Report kindly provided by POTM Holly Robinson.

LADIES 4TH XI - 30/09/2017 VS LOWESTOFT RAILWAY 1 (A) TEAM: Womens 4th XI DATE: 30/09/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 4th XI VS 30/09/2017 HEADLINE: Hannah our Heroine saves the day LEAGUE: NORFOLK PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE SPONSORS: EMPRESA LIMITED VENUE:East Point Academy, Lowestoft RESULT:2-2 REPORT: Lowestoft Railway 1's looked in a strong position coming into this game with two wins behind them. City only fielded 11 players and some of us were playing in new positions. We knew that this was going to be a tough match. We had a positive team talk and spirits were high at the beginning of the game however it unfortunately took us a while to settle and Lowestoft Railway took advantage of this by gaining an early lead. City then began working well as a unit and we were awarded our first short corner which Fiona Spencer converted from the top of the D. The second half started in a similar way with Lowestoft again scoring early on. We didn’t let this get to us and we stuck to our game plan. It looked as though we were quickly going to be back on level terms when Fiona had another shot from a short corner which was put into the back of the net helped by a deflection from a defender but unfortunately the initial shot was deemed too high and the goal was disallowed. City kept up the pressure and worked well as a unit, we knew that we wanted to come away from this match with something to show. After another one of our attacking short corners was blocked, Fiona managed to regained control of the ball and powered it past the keeper into the goal to bring the score to 2-2. We all worked so hard for the last 10 minutes – marking players, defending short corners and keeping our cool. City were pleased to come away from this game with a well-deserved point, a great effort from the whole team! Match Report kindly provided by POTM Hannah Sangar, who as an outfield player was prepared to play in goal for us this week and was simply outstanding - thank you so much Hannah.
