LADIES 1ST XI - 26/08/2017 VS CAMBRIDGE CITY 2 (H) TEAM: Womens 1st XI DATE: 26/08/2017 FIXTURE: Womens 1st XI VS 26/08/2017 HEADLINE: LEAGUE: EAST DIVISION 1 NORTH VENUE: TRF RESULT: 4:7 REPORT: The Womens 1st XI have started their preseason training in earnest following a challenging 2016/17 season. They welcome a new coach in Pies, a new captain in Jo and several new players. They faced Cambridge City for their first friendly match on Saturday, at home, in unforeseen bakingly hot weather conditions. In the first quarter Norwich at times lacked cohesion due to unfamiliar combinations not quite coming together across the pitch. The well drilled Cambridge side exploited this, attacked hard and took an early lead. The 2nd and 3rd quarters saw a much more exciting performance from Norwich with cracking team goals put away by Oli, Krystal, Micayla and Abbie. A sign of things to come... The 4th and final quarter saw fatigue set in for Norwich, and Cambridge again took their chances and pulled away with a flurry of goals. A special mention to Micayla, player of the match and a "new signing" for Norwich, who put in a consistent, tough and dynamic performance and claimed her first goal of the season. Although the end result was a loss, this does not reflect the hard work put in already by both players and coaches, and there are many positives to take from this early fixture.
